What a game. I thought MCW blew it and then he made a couple plays at the end to win/ice it. Wow.

That was really a great game and I love how the refs really let them play the last few possessions.

Great win. Two teams that could really take the tournament by storm.

Who's #1 now?

Considering both will be top 10 teams going into the tourney, I don't see either taking it by storm.

#1 should be Michigan, despite the loss at OSU. If not for a pathetic start, they are still unbeaten.

1. Michigan
2. Duke
3. Syracuse
4. Arizona
5. Florida

I agree with that. I might swap Florida for Arizona, but, as I've said before, those are the two teams I am highest on right now, so it's not a big deal.

Duke will be No. 1, though. As you know, and as you've stated before in this thread, that's just the nature of polls. The team at the top who has gone the longest without losing will almost always get the nod. There, of course, are exceptions. But Duke will likely go No. 1. (Unless voters take into account Kelly, but I doubt it.)

Marquette had 13 points at half tonight. San Diego State had 9. Both top 25 teams. Quality basketball.

4 losses in middle of January??? You will lose 10 or so and be on bubble an only big win is Michigan so far! Your silly losses will out weigh the one big win!

I just noticed that I paid no attention to that, either. There's pretty much no way KU is gonna fall from No. 4 to out of the top five after winning 15 straight games.

My guess:

1. Duke
2. Michigan
3. Syracuse
4. Kansas
5. Arizona

Yeah, forgot. I'd put KU at 3. Syracuse at 4. Florida and Zona right there, and Zona did beat the Gators. I do think UF is better though, they pissed that game away and it was in Tuscon.

As I've said all year though. Nobody is a lock to even escape the first weekend. That simply wasn't the case last year and I quite honestly did not expect the top seeds to really be challenged early last year. Look at the 2nd round games featuring the top seeds.

Kentucky 87, Iowa State 71.
Syracuse 75, Kansas State 59.
North Carolina 87, Creighton 73.

We did have upsets with Missouri and Duke losing round 1, then the teams who pulled the upsets got blasted in the next round.

Pumped for this year for sure!

Syracuse trailed 16th-seeded UNC-Asheville late in the game and won 72-65. So there were more than just a couple first round scares. This year might very well be the year that a one seed finally falls.

Butler hanging tough in Hinkle tonight. Chase Stigall hit a 27-footer with about a minute to play that really turned the volume up in the building. Exciting first half of basketball.

Gonzaga approaching significant foul trouble. If Butler can hold on and beat Gonzaga tonight with Rotnei Clarke in khakis, then call me a true believer. We already know the Bulldogs are a very good team, but a win like this over a really stout front court and one of the more athletic teams in the country while not being at full strength would really impress me.

This is a serious national championship contender.

I don't see either of these teams as real contenders. Fun game, though.

Butler has been there before, but Gonzaga, regardless of this outcome, has the more complete team. In this year though I wouldn't doubt either.

I highly doubt that anyone in America viewed Butler as a contender in 2011, but they obviously were by making it to the national finals for a second straight season. I think this year's Butler team (with Clarke) is just as good as that team, and probably better in terms of overall depth/scoring options.

I would honestly be utterly shocked if Butler doesn't reach the second weekend of the NCAAs, and at that point, Brad Stevens is as good as anybody with how well he prepares his team.
