He is an above average coach, not top 5. I think the problem is players don't respect him and walk over him or don't listen

Yeah this is definitely a case where it's not the coach's fault.

I agreed until I read turdo's response. Now I think it was a great move.

lol if he won coach of the month, must not have been much competition. Where was pop? How about Mem or OKC?

They do it by conference.

And I guess it's a October/November award. Not 2 separate months. Lionel Hollins, Memphis, won Western Conference.

Ah that makes sense. Just funny that players are making a big deal about it, esp considering the track history of coaches that win the yearly edition of the award. It's not good, starting with LBJ's coach in Cle Mike Brown.

Always thought you could take an average high school coach and do just as well as Brown.

Exactly my thoughts. Guy was instrumental in Sloan going bye bye and now has Johnson's blood on his hands.

Williams is a tier 2 superstar regardless of what he thinks. For him to win a title, he needs either: several other tier 2s on his team or a tier 1 superstar

Pretty much could of. All he did was manage substitutions and let Lebron run the show

This Nets fan is not pleased with this one bit, Avery Johnson got a bum deal here. Still think the Nets, once fully healthy, will be a top 5 team in the East, but hoping our Russian captain can seduce Phil Jackson to come over to Kings County ...

Phil would have to be blazed out of his mind to take the Nets job.

Oh wait...

I think the Knicks success this year might have something to do with Johnson getting fired. They need to keep up with the Knicks if they want a serious following

The Nets have too much talent to be .500 and sitting in the 8th seed in the East. I think he's a solid coach, nothing more

I'm another one on the Deron Williams: Coach Killer bandwagon. Johnson knew the expectations this year, though.

I don't know, the Nets played with little energy recently, they have absolutely no identity on offense and their young players (Brooks, Lopez) aren't really improving. A lot of that falls on the coaching staff, maybe the change will bring new life. Avery is a good coach but not irreplaceable especially when a team that talented is underachieving.

Injuries have been an issue with the Nets as well. Don't think Dwill is healthy either.

They've scored 95 only twice in their last ten games. They're 28th in points allowed per possession (109 points per 100 possessions). They've lost 6 games after holding a 13-point lead or more. D-Will has his lowest PER and lowest assist per game numbers since his rookie year. His true shooting percentage is tied for 188th in the league. Johnson's PER is his lowest since 2002-2003. Lopez has missed six games this month, in which the Nets are 1-5.

In short, they're not good.

As of right now Jeremy Lin is 3rd in the Western conference in backcourt voting and could possibly start in the ASG and has more votes than Westbrook and Curry combined. Someone needs to eliminate the Chinese voting portion of the AS Ballot.
