Lol, Mitch Kupchak defended Brown's firing because the team was meant to contend THIS season, and they are not. The playoffs are six months away! They've got to hurry!
I'd bet my next paycheck that they've already got something worked out with Phil which lead to dumping Mike Brown so quickly.

The Phil part is justifiable. Perhaps, and thus it's stupid they ever started out the season with him as head coach to begin with. Bickerstaff is now the 8th head coach(interim or full) of the Lakers since Kobe has arrived in LA and the 3rd time a coach has been fired during the season in that same time frame(Del Harris, Rudy T and Mike Brown).

To me it's just 100% no doubt that Phil was contacted by someone bitter within the organization and Phil slept on it a bit and as soon as he decided Brown was canned....but with $11 million owed I can't feel sorry for him.
