Outside of his few games last season, he's been pretty horrible for his career. that could be the teammates around him, coaches, maturity, etc.... but what I recalled advanced metrics don't grade particularly well for him. Then again, last season could have been the turning point, I'm not sure. Not a Wizards fan.

You're right. I didn't clearly formulate my thoughts. Deng is above average, but I don't think he is by much. But he does have something to offer to a team that is poor at SF and on the cusp of contending for the title. Or he's also a good piece for the Bulls to retain. I think my previous post better explains what I really meant in that I just don't think it would make sense for the Wizards as they need to continue to build through the draft.

The Wizards also have this guy named Bradley Beal, who was a top 3 draft pick just a year ago and was named first team all rookie (and has been compared to Ray Allen).
It's not that Deng wouldn't make them better, he just wouldn't make them better to the point of getting them to be top4-5 in the East.
They were 5-28 to start the season with Wall injured.
They were 24-25 to end the season (they ended on a 6 game skid against almost all play-off teams: Nets, Knicks, Bulls, Heat and then 76ers) And usually non-playoff teams tend to throw in the towel the last few games of a season anyways in an attempt to improve draft position or lottery chances. So I think next season they would probably be an above .500 team and a 6-8 seed anyways. But do you think Deng would put them with the Heat, Pacers, Bulls or Nets? I don't I think they'd still be a bottom half play-off team. Might as well keep the lottery pick and hope to improve your talent by drafting.
