Well Moody's, Goldman Sachs, the CBO and necessarily their experts essentially said the same thing when they projected that the American Jobs Act, if it had passed last fall would've brought down our unemployment rate by a percentage point and increased GDP a percentage point. Meanwhile, these same institutions are projecting that the sequester, a poor man's version of what you think would be a good idea, would do the opposite. Meanwhile, it's apparent that the defense industry is preparing to lay people off in response to spending cuts...hmm...but how could that be Gut when it's just fat that needs to be trimmed and will have no consequence from being cut???

Goldman-Sachs, the #1 donor to campaigns of parties that have a history of reckless spending and devaluing the dollar (which is not good for any economy), is claiming that the idea of said campaign is a good one.

Quid pro quo, Foot. Just because they're doing it doesn't mean it's for their benefit. These groups do something and get something in return. These are the definition of "special interest" on the largest scale, and the problem is that Uncle Sam isn't kicking them out of bed. They should be forced to compete in the game, not pay off the dealer.

Because that's the way cycles work. But when you flush exhorbitant amounts of money down the toilet, threaten to recoup that by soaking corporations and the rich, and then pass expensive and prohibitive regulation...well, then there's no one left to absorb the slack. That, in essence, is the Obama overhang.

One has to consider poll methodologies. Perhaps this one only includes living voters.

Doesn't matter. The only question is by how large a margin does Obama win. I've been saying all year that none of the candidates on the Republican side could win. It's nobody's fault but the members of the Republican Party.

The polls and/or media made me think Obama was going to win in a landslide. I admit most of my friends seem to be the same, but I don't know very many people who would admit to voting for Obama, so I was curious to see what people here thought. And the fact that currently 19 of 33 voters think Obama is going to win would lead me to believe that he probably will. (I would expect this board to be about as biased as can be.)
