Usually they have to pay a restitution value, typically in the thousands

Not sure waiting on the Game warden to come over here and let me know whats going to happen.

It makes me sick that I have put the time in and they go out there the day I cant hunt and get him.

How's this for punishment:

Restitution value as LJ mentioned
Give up the deer to the landowner
Pay for processing the meat

Sounds fair to me.

The guys were out in my dads field with a nice size buck. I drove back to see what was going on and why they were there. One guy was the game warden, I did not notice his truck, the other guys I did not know. I asked them what was going on and they said they shot this buck and out of my tree stand. I asked the game warden if he checked their permission slips cause this was my fathers land. I was pissed they shot the one I passed the 12 up for. It was a ten pointer. I bet it was 4inches around its base and the brow were both 12-14" very nice buck. The guys were from toledo not sure what is going to happen. I had to leave. PISSED off right now.
Damn man that sucks..

Seeing that I will only be able to hunt a maximum of 4 days, I will probably kill whatever I have a chance to, unless it is a small 6 point or something.

The guy ended up with Five tickets. The deer will be donated to the homeless shelter and the game warden said we could have the rack if we wanted it. I am just a little pissed off right now. The tickets were for trespassing, illegal use of firearm, something about taking an animal on private property, and really cant remember the other two. I know the game warden took both of the guys guns. Just still a little pissed about the whole thing. Ohh well hopefully other hunters ran another buck our way.

Im going to go get the rack will post a pick later when I get it home.

That sucks

Do you even want a rack from a deer someone else took?
mcburg93;1330496 wrote:I know the game warden took both of the guys guns.
That would suck, but it's what he deserves for hunting where he isn't supposed to be. You can't do that by accident.

Gotcha. I wasn't 100% on what poaching actually is, obviously. Thanks for clearing that up.

The PSE Brute series is a good line of Bows, My Brother shoots the Brute Force and Loves it.

I know You said 400 was around Your limit but for about 50 Bucks more You can get one ready to shoot on Ebay

Benny The Jet;1330303 wrote:That is a nice bow. Just keep in mind, when you buy it, unless I'm reading it wrong, you'll have to add a lot to it. As far as quiver, sights etc. So you may be looking at some more $ for that as well. Just FYI. I found mine on Craigslist ready to hunt for around 200$. Was able to go shoot it before buying, and have taken 2 deer so far with it. May be another option.
The only problem with Craigslist is You have to take the owners word on how He cared for the Bow, You dont know the history of the bow , Atleast with a Bow Shop or Ebay Your usually getting a warrenty with Your bow incase something happens to it

They wouldn't let me have it today. I would just hang it with the other sheds I have found. I'm not even sure if I'm allowed to keep the sheds. Friend told me a few months ago you're not allowed to keep them with out a tag on them.

You can have a shed as long as theres no skull attached or cut marks from where someone cut them from the skull, If the skull is attached or been cut off it must have a tag

Yeah, it is pretty easy to tell the difference between a harvested antler and a shed. If it were illegal, I think my buddy would be in a world of shit

The places that have it (like Gahanna) have an application and review process. If more people are approved than they have permits to issue, they then have a lottery.

I have the picture at work, but a guy took a world class 200+ buck at a Gahanna city park last year

doesnt seem very fun to me. I'd imagine most of these deer inside city limits are partially tame.
