Absolutely right, and it looks like they're just trying to sweep it under the rug.

Wonderful message to the kids.

I'll be curious to see if they can keep the #partycoach out of the pokey too.

I thought that was you lol....and I think most people are at this point. There are a few there that this was the final straw and they've had enough.

Then there are the ones here that are turning away from it like JoePa did because theyre all drinkin that BR Koolaid and still think they're perfect.

Bet if this was Mooney or Ursuline they'd be all over this talkin bout how something like this would never happen in the utopia of a town.

When you invest everything you have into high school football as penn state did with their football team, things tend to happen like this and its unbelieveable.

If it is true that this coach provided alcohol to teens that resulted in a girl getting raped...he needs to be prosecuted and sent away with the other kids involved and they can have all the parties they want behind bars! What a sick story!

If you read the comments on the story it says one of the perpetrators is already gone and at OSU. hmm looks like someone just jacked their entire future up.

Idiots.

And yes, that coach should not only be arrested and fired, but have to register as a sex offender. If you drive a getaway car in a murder, you're in for murder. Same deal.

I know this could happen in most towns, but I just can't believe a community, a school system and a football program would stand for this.

...it's my understanding that the girl that was raped had been drugged (roofies) by two players at some location & quite a few people (possible coaches) knew about it, video'd it and still chose to do nothing. The whole thing stinks to high heaven so stay tuned, it's most likely going to get worse in Jefferson County!

According to the people of the "ville" the girl is lying and their football team is all that matters. What a shame. We're talking about a life here that'll never be the same.

Just sickening. We see this sort of thing at college campuses all over (not just PSU, incidentally), but anyone covering for these criminals in S'ville should be ashamed of themselves.

Okay...it appears on the other thread we've established that there are not any underage drinking/gang rape rooms in the new press box at Harding.

So we can cross that off the list.

I've yet to meet these people you speak of.

It is a shame what happened. It's also a shame that shortly after it happened, those outside Steubenville have done nothing but denigrate the city, fans, and the team for something a few screw-ups did at a party. What happened is unspeakable. But, I won't sit here and let me be cast into it with them.

And comparing it to Penn State is a joke. JoePa/Sandusky/PSU took 13 _YEARS_ for it to come out because of an active cover up that was centered around a key figure in the higher-ups in the athletic department doing unspeakable things, PERPETUALLY all the while shielded from justice.

Meanwhile, this happened AUGUST 14th, and it is less than two weeks later. Two are in custody, more may be. We've yet to have the evidence play out in a trial. Hopefully, assuming their participation in the act is true, they'll be punished to the fullest extent the law allows. If others are implicated and proven guilty, I'd feel the same way.

But to get up in arms about something that happened less than two weeks ago, that resulted in arrests about a week later, is ridiculously impatient.

Ceratinly the lives of some young people will change forever due to the incidents that took place that evening. That is the worst part of all of this.

I am ceratinly not defending anyone and hope justice is served.

You're already casting yourself in with them. "Something a few screw ups did at a party?" Really? "Boys will be boys," huh?

Seven. At least. Plus a coach...at who's house the party allegedly started. At any respectable program, any player who was anywhere near that house is off the team. At Big Red, they play...since "they haven't been charged." I don't know of any other program where you have to actually be charged with a crime to get the boot, but whatever.

In the comparison to Penn State, I was speaking more of the perps penchant for sodomy.

Although the CYA mentality of the town seems to be kicking in nicely...we'll see soon enough how far up the chain it goes I suppose.
