They have a six-year list that starts over every seventh year. If the storm is bad enough that using the name again would possibly bring emotional distress to people in an area, they retire the name. Hugo, Andrew, Dennis, Irene, for example have all been retired. This is for Atlanic-based storms, which I assume is similar for the rest of the world

Issac continues to strengthen slower than expected, will barely be a hurricane most likely now at landfall as of the 11am advisory

If this storm has any Katrina-like damage to New Orleans (hopefully not)....will BHO get the blame?

Last night CNN already tried to make a connection between Katrina, Bush, and the GOP convention.

No more politics on here. If you want to discuss a political connection to a hurricane, do so in the appropriate forum. Any more political posts on this topic will be deleted.

Okay, now that that is out of the way, is there any update from a Chatterer who lives down that way?

Benedict Arnold was a traitor. I will not vote for any candidate who is related to him because I love my country.

This looks much better in Italics and bold. If you are having your Jimmies Jostled. :)

But I did talk to one of my buddies in the pan handle a couple hours ago. He said it's windy and the waves are awesome.

I was just trying to make sure it was seen. My first post was apparently too subtle, and I didn't want that to happen again.

See, now that almost sounds like it would be fun if it wasn't for the potential of death and destruction that comes with something like this.

^^^ 6-8' waves. But he said he had to quit. The rip tide was so bad that he was surfing for a 1/2 hour and had to walk a mile and a half back up the beach to get to his car.

It's more of a TV overhype because it's heading straight for a direct hit on New Orleans, and they're going to overdo that one every time after Katrina. I mean, regardless of wind speed it's going to rain a ton on them and flood some shit because they essentially sit in a damn hole.

Earlier hype was because the RNC was going to get drilled, and that is a lot of people not familiar with hurricanes in the path, but the path veered west and it switched to NOLA.
