Let younger kids get in the game with 5 left and Campbell got a quick score and an onside kick to make it respectable, very well put together game by the cats, Stewart ran very well, and kimbrough was very hard for the devils to stop when he got ball in his hands. Campbell has athletes but still lack leadership IMO kids taking their helmets off after every play wasn't what the coaches wanted to see I'm sure oh well off to lakeview with a 1-0 record go cats

Keep it about the game that just happened, not vandalism rumors.

Campbell should have spread the field way more often than they did. I am sure the plan was to keep the ball away from Muntean and the Struthers offense. But to do that, a team has to make first downs. For Campbell, #4 Brown and #15 Smith are very active linebackers. To ask them to turn around and play running back might have been asking a little too much. I thought the Campbell offensive line could have done a better job blocking. Campbell was missing a defensive lineman due to injury. That forced #59 McWilson and #77 Burnett to play just about every down. I am not making excuses for Campbell but those big kids looked to be wore down midway through the third quarter. It was a warm evening. But it was a warm evening for Struthers too. I believe Struthers had fewer kids playing both ways. But it all boiled down to Kimbrough and Stewart making big plays for the Wildcats. If Campbell spreads the field more and gets the Hughes brothers and the Jackson brothers more involved in the offensive scheme, they will be okay. I tip my hat to Struthers.

The only bright spot for Campbell was their boys did not quit and put a couple of scores late to make it close. Having watched the last eights quarters of Struthers-Campbell I find it interesting that the Red Devils come to play with very little fire in their bellies.

Thet Cats were in better shape tonight....Campbell players were gassed by half-time....lack of preparation or lack of motivation....I don't know....Campbell kids look like they are just going through the motions. I expected a fired-up devil team with new leadership.....didn't see it...just more sleepwalking......

Good crowd tonight....I liked the idea of the Thursday night opener....doubt if we would have had the same turn-out in week 10.

Cats had a nice game plan. Stewart ran well, liked Kimbroue in the wildcat.....still have some concerns about Muntean's lack of height at QB......

Nice performance by the Cats....still have things they can work on. Lakeview road game willbe another good measuring stick.....Cats never play well up there...always get off to a slow start and end up digging themselves a huge hole to climb out of.

Thoroughly agree with you there. Kimbrough looks dangerous in that wildcat set, Stewart ran hard and the cats fulfilled all of my expectations. Muntean will be fine, Just opening gitters. Campbell wasn't acting like this game was even important to them at all... Laying in the endzone with their helmets off when they're measuring for yet another first down for the cats.. Do these kids have any respect for themselves? Or their city?? I know CMHS has some passionate fans, and it's sad to see what their kids do to represent them on the field. The last two years now... That being said. Wildcats roll into lakeview next week riding high, let's hope they keep it up. Go cats.

You are a super knowledgeable sports fan and representative of many Campbell fans. It was a great first game and Campbell never quit. Many teams would've given up.
Best of luck to Memorial the rest of the way.

Campbell Needs to rest some of there players during the game. Man that was rough to watch after half time. And i agree dean. What is going on with not getting the Hughes and Jackson brothers more playtime. Damn i don't even know what to think. I see the defense is looking good at times. But give up to many big runs. Reyes did a very good job i thought. Other then the one Interception but cant totally blame him when he was running for his life almost every time he dropped back to pass. the team is good. But i talked with a old friend at the game. I agree with him on Campbell is looking for there identity right now. and it looked like a stacked I worked good. But the defense Blitzed a little to much up the middle. I don't know. But hey they made a game of it at the end. Proud of them for not giving up. And the look on the big guys face when the stripped ball was called down. Things to make say Hmmmm.

Under No circumstances do i count the devils out this year for a 3rd crown. Or possible a week 11 appearance! I liked a lot of what could be. There is a lot of weapons. Just got to get the puzzle figured out quick.

As for Campbell...
Campbell has some talent and they showed up in flashes. No doubt, they'll win their fair share of games this year... but just like everyone has already said... they didn't show much intensity early on... not much depth either.

I don't see it happening, because it's not Zetts's style, but Campbell should really run more of a Shotgun Spread Offense with some Speed Options and Zone Reads mixed in. A lot of what Reyes can do for the running game is lost in a traditional drop back passing system.

Good luck the rest of the season, Campbell!

As for Struthers...

I don't mean to toot my own horn or anything... but who was it that said, about half way through the year last year, that moving Kimbrough to WR and putting him in the Wildcat was a good idea?

In all seriousness...

Stewart ran very angry... think he remembers being taken off the field in an ambulance, 2 years ago? 150+ yards on the ground and a TD. He also caught a few passes, and was in on some big stops on D.

Wikowski ran hard, and has some quickness. He just couldn't find any daylight. His vision just needs to improve, which should come with time. He should see more time with the JV at this point, but they should still give him some reps when Stewart needs a breather.

Muntean showed off his arm, but he also had a few throws that I bet he wishes he could have back. He needs to make better decisions.

I'm not sure what to lean towards... was Struthers run defense that good, or did Campbell's run offense under perform that much? Maybe a little of both? Honestly, I was a little surprised that Brandon Jackson didn't get the ball more... I mean, did he even carry the ball at all?

The Cats looked very tough, at least for the first 42:30 of the game. I don't know if complacency set in, or if they just lost focus, and kudos to the Devils for not throwing in the towel, but they had Campbell finished, and they couldn't slam the door shut. After they went up 27-6 with like 2:00 left in the 3rd, I knew that if they didn't come away with any points relatively early in the 4th, Campbell would build some momentum down the stretch.

All in all, still a very respectable win for Struthers. They'll need to cut back on the mental mistakes, keep the turnovers to a minimum, and play a more complete game next week though, if they want to hang with Lakeview. There's lots of stuff to go over on film this weekend.

GO CATS!!

Run defense looked better on the edges then up the middle, #20 needs to not get beat over top playing that safety position, happy we finally jumped an out route and took it back for 6. Tackling was very much improved which I liked to see, I think we stopped givin kimbrough the ba after the game was in hand because of the fact we didn't want to show lakeview all we had if we did not have to. Stewart ran very hard tonight and has better vision then he had last year, when kimbrough went into the wild at he ran around 4-5 plays and got at least 10 yards on every play, the one run was mean when he was running through everyone. Need to get kimbrough into space more against lakeview, slow the game down. As for Muntean the one int he threw was completely on him and I bet he wishes he had it back, but I don't put all the blame on him for the deep ball, the defender made an amazing play on the ball and competely took it away from #10. Campbell should be fine if they All get on the same page, I see Brookfield and lakeview being very tough obstcles to get I to the playoffs. I see them having to finish 8-2 to make week 11 and will have to beat lakeview Brookfield girard and labrae.

couple thoughts on last night's game....this one more geared towards campbell fans but is struthers going to be the hardest opponent we will play all year i'm inclined to say yes. and to struthers fans i was very impressed with your team in particular #44 david stewart..any word on if any big time colleges are looking at him he looks to me based on my small sample size of last years game and this years like he has the ability to go to a division 1 school. see you guys next year in campbell:)

Brookfield is also very tough, Labrae and Lakeview also stand as games that'll be tough for CMHS to win IMO.
