Not everyone should be able to vote, you have to register and be over the age of 18. Let's eliminate all those restrictions too since the right to vote should not be denied or suppressed.

This is the law in most jurisdictions. You have to show a photo ID to vote using the machines (this is certainly the law in Virginia, or North Carolina according to Joe Dumb$&%^% Biden), if you don't have ID you aren't turned away. There is no disenfranchisement. You fill out a paper ballot that will be recorded once you prove who you are. It is called a provisional ballot.

Well the state I'm thinking of is Texas and most people with VA cards are, more so than anything else, old. That is, they basically vote for SS and Medicare/Medicaid. So realistically, in an era when Pubs are attempting to privatize the entitlement programs, probably more likely to vote dem since they buy their votes after all with promises of gubmint tit. The governor who signed the law after all happens to think at least one of those programs is a ponzi-scheme.

Under the Help America Vote Act of 2002 local county boards can receive funds to help ensure the disabled can travel to polling places.. Additionally, the Board of Elections will have a person of both political parties come out and bring ballots to nursing homes. These types of measures have not been taken with regard to the Voter ID laws. There's no measure put in place to ensure that a disabled person who doesn't have identification with his/her current address on it on election day will still be able to have their voter eligibility verified after casting a provisional ballot.

And, like I've said, an ID is cheap but a lot of those folks can't easily get from Clyde to Fremont to get one without a family member helping (which a lot don't have).

But I really enjoy your condescension as we could surely all learn a thing or two from your wealth of perspicacity.

Since electing Barack Obama was a large collective failure by us in the mind of MB, I have my doubts he'd be all that upset if some folks whom the democrats have "bought off" weren't able to have their vote properly count if it meant getting "president choom" out of office.

I think MB cares about the future of the country rather than scoring political points on an unsustainable system.

If you can't name the 4 parties on the 2 tickets, you shouldn't have a vote, period. That would "disenfranchise" about 25% of the voters, maybe more.

The reality, of which liberals seem to have no concept, is the taxpayer can't write a check to take care of everyone. So how would you have them choose?

The irony is if people had made better choices in their life, then they'd have the money and/or family and friends to take care of them and not need to rely on the taxpayer. I should have to work and work and work to take care of other people, even if I have friends and relatives I'd rather be able to help out?
