lets get some football talk started, Orrville has won the last three years. The Indians graduated a ton of talent. Orrville lost the beast Monhiem. The ville has alot going for them with there new stadium. The Indians will have alot of new starters. whats everyones thoughts.

Same as always...2 strong programs looking to start the season off right. Usually the team that makes the fewest mistakes and more big plays will win.

Northwest returns alot of beef upfront. Hopefully we can run the ball on Orrville. They have always matched or have been more athletic than us.

Thats exactly what this game has been all about since renewing the matchup. Always a good week 1 test for both teams and this year will be no different.RedRider1;1239272 wrote:Same as always...2 strong programs looking to start the season off right. NW fans...has parking improved any over there now that the new schools are near completion? Just seems that we have always had to walk a country mile to get to the stadium.

It still looks like a War Zone over here. Much better than the last time you guys came here, but still its no perfection either.....I hear that this is the last year the NW Orrville game will be week one. Next two years will be Week 3Old Rider;1239530 wrote:Thats exactly what this game has been all about since renewing the matchup. Correct. Copley is dropping us (a big, bad D-4 school) and we typically play them in week 3.
Northwest will be the week 3 opponent staring in 2013 and Orrville will be bringing down a sacrificial Cleveland City team for a week 1 home game every year.

NW should win this one. I would say if Vegas had HS odds it would be a 9 1/2 point spread but thats why they play the game. NW is big up front!

NW is always a great first week measuring stick. They should be a little grumpy after that whoopin last year. Riders have faced plenty of teams that were big up front. It generally takes more than that to beat Orrville. We will all know a bit more in a couple weeks. The Red Riders graduated some very good talent....... But we do that every year. It will be another great week one game.

They've BEEN big up front before and we've beat them. With all that size they need to get away from throwing the ball 60 times a game. Heard thy may be doing just that this year and trying to pound the ball more.

Well if it goes as normal NW will get up by running the ball and then for some unknown reason they think they have to throw the ball...get picked off a few times and loose the game.
This is a very important game for both teams to find out early where they are at. Orrville has a ton of questions.

(Almost) wish the game was in the 'Ville this year so we could see that awesome new field. The photos look amazing. I am personally glad to hear about the return of some ground and pound to the NW O. Nothing gets me fired up like some smash mouth. Also, sorry guys, bring the hiking boots. I don't see the parking getting much better anytime soon. Good thing I get there early and park in the HS lot.

Always kids at Orrville waiting in the wings, but 3 kids with d-1 talent will be hard to replace.
And you're right...last year was a boat race & NW has done that to us once too...but typically it's a close game that is decided by a big play or a turnover late.
Hate that this is a week 1 game...looking forward to next year in week 3 when both teams have had 2 games to get the kinks worked out...hopefully.

Orrville brings back some experience up front, but not much size. I just hope our skill and team speed can make up for some of that. The only game where we may be the bigger team on the field will be week 2 against Triway...other than that we will be outsized in every game.Brutus;1241005 wrote:how many times has Northwest beat themself in this game. will orrville find the repacements for monheim, stewart and the kid i think wore #11, those three kids were studs, hows orrvilles line

i dont know how the series goes but in 1983 northwest won the first meeting and since the i would say orrville has won 9 out of 10. we just cant get the red rider off our back.

If memory serves, 1983 was a great year for both teams. Northwest won the game that year (23-13?...something like that) on their way to an undefeated season during the Scott Crossland years.Brutus;1241515 wrote:i dont know how the series goes but in 1983 northwest won the first meeting and since the i would say orrville has won 9 out of 10. we just cant get the red rider off our back.
and Orrville lost a few games (NW, West Holmes, Timken?) but made the playoffs with Tom Bolyard at QB and wound up as state runnerup to Columbus Ready.

Short memory in Indian Territory. You seem to forget the 3 straight wins you had over us in 2007, 08, 09.Brutus;1241515 wrote:i dont know how the series goes but in 1983 northwest won the first meeting and since the i would say orrville has won 9 out of 10. we just cant get the red rider off our back.
Total series is 21-7 in favor of Orrville, but just 4-3 Orrville since the 2 renewed their rivalry in 2005.
2005 - Orrville 30 - Northwest 27 (OT)
2006 - Orrville 30 - Northwest 14
2007 - Northwest 21 - Orrville 14
2008 - Northwest 34 - Orrville 13
2009 - Northwest 40 - Orrville 14
2010 - Orrville 24 - Northwest 22
2011 - Orrville 41 - Northwest 27
Average score - Northwest 26.4 - Orrville 23.7

Memory does serve....All 3 of those losses were to good teams. NW, WH and Timken all finished in the top 6 of their respective regions that year.Red Rum;1241533 wrote:If memory serves, 1983 was a great year for both teams.
