Seems like if you let something go, someone complains that the mods don't enforce the rules, and that the site will go to hell. But if you don't let it go, different people will be upset and think the mods are turning into Nazis.

I can't speak for every mod, but I personally hate doing the infraction thing, because it inevitably ends up causing someone to get annoyed or upset. I certainly don't like that.

Did you read the thread you just linked? All the Mods did was to tell the posters in the thread to "keep it clean." No infraction. RDI's reply was that a Mod saying "keep it clean" wasn't enough, and that the Mods should have done more.

I explained why nobody (myself included) was going to do anything (post #67 for those following along). Not sure how that makes me sound like someone getting his rocks off by handing out infractions, but that's a different discussion. You apparently didn't like my reply as to why at least I wasn't going to give out an infraction, per your reply in the next post.

My stance has always been to run the OC the way it has always been. This ticky tacky shit is just weak. It's doing the exact opposite of its intentions, and that is/was to bring in more new members.

This may come as a shock, but there are posters who think the exact opposite: That by just basically letting everything go, the site devolves into infantile name-calling and useless threads which never end up having a point. They seem to think that will not attract new members.

Not sure where either of you guys are getting your info, as I wasn't aware either party had access to new member rates or unique traffic activity. I certainly don't have access to that, so I'm just not going to say what will or won't work. All I can say is that it doesn't matter how a site is run, somebody complains.
