...Went to the game, an experience that will be difficult to top for all times.

2. 2009 Stanley Cup Finals Game 7 - Penguins vs. Red Wings
...Penguins hold off the Red Wings to win the cup. Watched this in a sports bar with a friend from work. Tremendous closing sequence with the Red Wings attacking and the Penguins trying to hang on and everyone screaming for like three minutes straight.

3. 2008 AFC Championship Game - Steelers vs. Ravens
...I was at the game and watched it from the standing room in the open end. I was too bundled up and nervous to sit. It ended up being cool especially after Polamalu's interception return when it became a huge mosh pit.

4. 2005 AFC Divisional Playoff Game - Steelers vs. Colts
...Also went to this game. Great atmosphere and obviously a crazy fourth quarter finish.

5. 2002 BCS National Championship Game - Ohio State vs. Miami
...Buckeyes knock off the mighty Hurricanes. Great game from the opening kickoff to the double overtime finish.

Unsung pick - 2001 MLB game - Pirates vs. Indians
...Pirates won 1-0. Great battle between Todd Ritchie and C.C. Sabathia on Father's Day. I went to this game with my brother and dad and had box seats in the first row along the first base line. There wasn't that much on the line but it represents all that's good. family, baseball, sunny day, America.

...I didn't have a lot of interest in swimming before this and don't follow it much now, but during those two particular races -- the 4x100 freestyle relay and 100 butterfly -- I was on the edge of my seat.

2001 AFC Divisional Playoff Game - Patriots vs. Raiders
...Great television. Playoff game in a heavy snowstorm to begin with and then the dramatic, controversial finish.

2001 World Series - Diamondbacks vs. Yankees
...This entire series was awesome after the events of Sept. 11. The Yankees walk-off home runs off Byung-hyun Kim and the Diamondbacks ninth-inning rally in Game 7.

I'm going to stop at those three because I picked them without looking back and trying to remember others. I think that's what makes them tops because I remembered them instantly.

Nope. But I was kind of a casual soccer fan, didn't care for the game much and happened to be on vacation at the time and wanted to do nothing but rest. I was in the Outer Banks--had no interest in being outside because I was outside enough for work so I just wanted the relaxation. Ended up watching damn near every game and I loved it--I wouldn't say it changed my view on soccer because I wasn't an anti-soccer person to begin with but it made me a much bigger fan. Can't wait for next summer.

And AJ Moye owns Boozer, period.

I was just curious cause most soccer fans obviously liked the 2002 run where the USA made it to the final 8.

Either way, soccer is truly one of the best sports to follow. Every nation is included in the World Cup, and the way they set up tournaments and league seasons is so fun. I hope you enjoy next summer. Im dying in anticipation.

Honestly, I would root for the USA for sure but in soccer I just don't really seem to care. I enjoyed watching pretty much every game last WC, I just love watching the game played on that high a level and I don't care what anyone says--soccer is awesome to watch. That level anyways, I'm not really a fan of the lower level soccer leagues. It's crazy from an average fan standpoint (me) to be able to instantly see how much better the game really is in Europe.

I must say, a big soccer influence on me was definitely the exchange student who lived with my parents my 2nd year at Kent. He was from Chile and is a DAMN good soccer player. I kicked the ball around with him A LOT and he taught me all kinds of stuff--some of which I was amazed I picked up so quickly. He was amazing though--he could do all that crazy dribbling shit but when it came down to getting on the field, he was just as good. Averaged like 4 goals a game here and he was marked by at least 2 guys at all times in every game--had a high of 9 in a game, ridiculous. He was the best player at any position on the field. I was a good player when I was younger but gave it up pretty early thanks to a "sweet" coach--you know how that goes, I'm not talking about playing time and shit, I started. I'm talking about the kind of coach who makes you run 10 laps around the field AFTER the game if you win and 20 if you lose--all well and good, but this was when soccer was still supposed to be fun, we were way too little to be doing that bullshit. Needless to say we went undefeated lol.

1. 2006 ALCS Game 4 Tigers vs A's: Was at the game and still get goosebumps whenever I see highlights of Ordonez hitting the walkoff home run to send the Tigers to the World Series. Kind of upsets me that this moment never gets mentioned for great home runs even though it was bottom of ninth, 2 outs, runners on 1st and 2nd to win the pennant yet never gets any mention because it's not the Yankees and stupid Aaron Boone.

2. 2008 Stanley Cup Finals: 6 great games with the Red Wings taking their 4th Cup in 11 years

3. 2004 NBA Finals Detroit vs LA: Going in no one picked the Pistons and said they would get destroyed. I remember laughing to myself about that and telling friends of mine they have a great shot to beat them. Boy it felt great a week later when the Pistons basically delivered a 5 game sweep after outplaying the Lakers every game outside of 5 minutes in game 2.

4. 2001 OHSAA Division II State Final Football Game: Toledo St. Francis vs. Columbus Bishop Watterson: Great game to end a great season for the Knights of SFS and bring home the first football state title for the city of Toledo since 1984.

5. 2008 Olympics with Phelps, Bolt, USA basketball returning to greatness, and some amazing beach volleyball games

7) The game ended up terribly, but this moment alone was great.

Ted's return was a great moment. I know the rest of the game sucked, but all we heard the whole time leading up to the game was about how much faster they were and how Ted Ginn wouldn't even be one of Florida's fastest players--game couldn't have started any better for me.

Florida was just on a mission.

Good lists ... here is mine:

1. OSU beats Miami in Tempe for the National Championship: I was at the game, spent $600 on my ticket, and watched arguably the best game in college football history. Just the NFL-talent alone on the field would have made that game memorable (Sean Taylor, Andre Johnson, Willis McGahee, Will Smith, Michael Jenkins to name a few) ... still get the chills thinking of that game.

2. Giants beat the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII : I was in Carnivale in Rio de Janeiro, and I told myself not to get upset if this game got ugly. Who knew the G-men would take down the 18-0 Pats? In my opinion, that Tyree catch is the best play in NFL history, but I know I am biased. I remember replicating that play in the pool the next day in my hotel over and over again with my boys.

3. Ron Lewis hits a 3 to send Xavier game into OT: I was at a bar in NYC with a bunch of arrogant fireman on St. Patricks Day weekend. They talked smack the whole game about OSU, it was FANTASTIC to throw it in their face after the game.

4. Mets beat Cardinals in 2000 NLCS to advance to the World Series: I was SO confident after watching the Mets roll through the playoffs, until having my dream end against the Yankees. Still, what a memory.

5. NJ Nets advance to the Finals back-to-back years. I took off from work both seasons and waited in line 8 hours for tickets each time at the Meadowlands. I was only able to get tickets to 3 games (one against the Lakers, two against the Spurs) ... and the Nets went 0-3. Still, great moment for a pretty crappy franchise. Looking forward to their move to Brooklyn!
