I didn't mention the cost of services but aggregate costs. We save by having people get checkups and go to the doctor so they can get medicine in treatment earlier than waiting until they have a heart attack or some other shit.

And seriously when has the cost of medical care in the US ever gone down? It was rising at a stupid rate long before Obamacare.

People who had insurance in the past didn't spend time and effort in preventative activities. this won't change it significantly. The lifestyles and diet are greater contributors to overall health.

The individual service cost was rising significantly. This legislation did nothing to address that problem. It was an opportunity to do so and they failed.

I didn't say that. People are retroactive with their care. When something is wrong they go. That's not preventative. It's also not necessarily an "emergency".

When people don't have insurance or otherwise feel it's impossible to pay they tend to wait until it's an emergency.

....and my comments were that people who have insurance continue to be retroactive in the healthcare with regards to seeking out medical services.

Uh, no. You aren't taxed for renting. This is the first time in American history someone is taxed for simply being an American citizen, although apparently (according to the latest AP feed) the government can't actually enforce this. So we have a program that most people hate, won't improve things and the government doesn't have power to enforce it.

This is the biggest cluster$&% in first world history.

Eh, I dunno. Prohibition technically fit each of the descriptions as well. Most people hated it. Didn't improve anything. Government couldn't enforce it.

As for the worst cluster$&%, the New Deal has to rank up there.

This is the worst because we know better. We have the technology living in the information age where our choices are evident. At the time the New Deal was passed most people didn't know the world beyond their farms and what information they got were from the likes of old media (and we know how trustworthy that was - Walter Cronkite my rear end). I can go online and read the entire bill (although Nancy Pelosi obviously hasn't). We know it won't work yet we tolerate it, why? We can't claim ignorance.

Americans are still proving that we'll tolerate the notion that the Feds have a fix for every social ill.

So now we have this huge tax increase...16,000 new IRS agents will be hired to enforce it(Job creation!). All this was created by a Congress which never even took the time to completely read it before ramming it thru. Why would anyone would re-elect any sitting member of Congress who negligently voted for this bill?

We still had the founding documents back then, which serve as plenty reason the New Deal should have been rejected before we got into trouble.

As for the economic struggles of the time, that should have indicated to us that economic prosperity can be seriously hampered by war spending, and though it is sometimes a necessary evil, it should be a last resort.

As it stands, we today have a Congress of bobble-heads whose heads shake or nod based on however their party wiggles them, history be damned.

Actually, that's the beauty of it. In their rush to craft the mandate as "not a tax," Nancy & Harry stripped most if not all the enforcement provisions from the original bill. Without a re-write, enforcement is next to impossible.

Because hospital CEO's know that doctors are being driven to become hospital employees and hospitals will be rewarded, not doctor-patient care. I know excellent doctors already scaling back, or considering leaving. When you have 40 million new patients, yet fewer doctors, what do you think is going to happen?

Because when its free you'll have people with marginal health problems(ie, colds, sprained ankles, acne, sunburn, etc.) going to the hospital/doctor whereas before they would handle the problem in a cheaper manner. Now, the cost of going to the doctor is less for that person than the cost of going to CVS and buying some cough medicine.

It's a great country, until no one but the government has any money.
