It's not so much that K-Hump is getting $12 mil, it's that he's getting $12 mil on a team that already has Lopez to a max deal, Joe Johnsons gross contract, Deron Williams to a max deal, and Gerald Wallace.

Of course, we're talking about a billionaire owner so he probably doesn't give a sh*t about the luxury tax.

Not only that, but the Nets could end up being one of the best teams in the league, at least on paper.

DWill
Joe Johnson
Gerald Wallace
Humphries
Lopez

Pretty damn good starting 5, one of the best in the league.

Eh... I love DWill and Joe Johnson, but Gerald Wallace isn't going to make them one of the best teams in the East. Kris is a "me" guy and Lopez is pretty underrated.

Joe Johnson is starting to crawl up there in age though and lacks the swiftness that he has just a couple of years ago to get to the basket. He became primarily a jumpshooter last season. Wallace is already like 34...

And their bench?

Wallace plays hard and can defend at a high level. Being the 4th option on the team he will be fine. 14 and 7 last year and shot 45% from the field. Kris Humphries is one of the hardest playing guys in the league, I don't care about the off the court, on the court he produces. Marshon Brooks, CJ Watson, Tyshawn Taylor, Reggie Evans and Shelden Williams is fine off the bench. They have this dude named Shengelia who I watched in the summer league who has some serious talent as well. Not saying they will win the east but they are going to be right up there with the elite teams more than likely.

No, Kris is a "me" first guy on the court... I don't care about off the court stuff either. Dude got a lot of garbage stats last year. New Jersey will win 45-50 games, but they will not challenge Miami.

I mean, will they be one of the top teams in the east? Yeah, but that's by default. Chicago and Boston won't be there this year more than likely.. NY is "meh" themselves... Orlando, ATL, and Philly aren't contenders either.

Unless Deron Williams is transcendental during the playoffs (which he absolutely can be), I don't see the Nets doing any better than the Atlanta Hawks teams with Smith, Johnson, and Horford. Talented for sure, but not quite good enough to make it past the 2nd round. I don't see the Nets being one of the 2 best teams in the East (ie making it to Eastern Finals).

Miami is going to roll the east again. Brooklyn could win 48-50 for sure though, IF they stay healthy.

Bingo^

The only player I truly love on NJ is Deron Williams. The others are "nice" players, but nice players don't win championships, especially now.

Absolutely they will be. Swapping Jason Terry for Ray Allen is a lateral move because of Allen's role in the offense, and Boston gets back Jeff Green who missed last year and added youth and talent in the post. I think Boston is easily the 2nd best team in the East.

Rajon Rondo
Avery Bradley
Paul Pierce
Jeff Green/Jared Sullinger/Brandon Bass (way too early to speculate who will start at the 4)
Kevin Garnett

With a bench of 2 of the players I listed above, Jason Terry, Kris Joseph (underratedly good draft pick), Jujuan Johnson, E'Twaun Moore, and Fab Melo.

Lakers working out JOneil and Brandon Rush right now.

I'd be find with the Hump deal if I were a Brooklyn fan. 2 year deal = very tradeable deal

Then you haven't watched him play often. He gets garbage points because he plays his ass off. There is nothing me first about his game.

Lol ok man. You're the only person I know who claims to watch the Nets, yet doesn't feel Kris is a me first guy.

You're right.. Boston will still be a top 4/5 team in the East. I forgot about the JET signing, I actually like him more than Allen at this point because he's able to initiate offense.
