They are a .500 team ...maybe slightly above. All they have to do is make the playoffs. Anything can happen after that. As long as they go in with 3 legit starters and some hitting they'd have a puncher's chance. Now do I think this will happen? "Anything can happen" doesn't change the fact that the talent level and depth of this team is one that's a slightly better than .500 long term performance. If, and that's a big if, the make the playoffs you only need 1 more game than your opponents to move on. People shouldn't be shocked, however, if they play .500 ball the rest of the year and don't even come close because Detroit's offense catches fire.

That's why they are going to have to add a starting arm and a bat with some pop. Of course, the problem with that is that with all the parity this year (only a couple truly good and a couple truly bad teams) and the extra wild card, it'll probably be a lot tougher for teams that are currently contenders to get the pieces they need because there probably won't be many teams in "freefall/sale" mode in a month.BR1986FB;1207237 wrote:That's why they are going to have to add a starting arm and a bat with some pop. I don't think they believe they can win a title standing pat. I personally don't think they can win a title even if they add a bat and a starting arm.
