Clearly you've never played pickup basketball. Basketball might be the smallest gap out there; even if you are god awful and short you can still throw a ball 20 feet and put it in 20% of the time.

Baseball. No way could any average guy get out there and hit a 90 mph fastball, or throw one much faster than 60, or play in the outfield or just even infield.

Golf is right up there. As a good golfer that's usually in the high 70s-low 80s you've gotta understand that the average guy is 80s-low 90s. And that's usually at the local course folks. Now the pros play absolutely brutal courses(even average tour courses would be just extreme for amateurs), and consistently shoot 60s-low 70s on them. To have that touch on greens, that distance and accuracy consistently is so far away from what the average guy could do.

I'll throw in a vote for baseball for the same reasons Classyposter stated. Though, I did hit 70 on the gun at the Reds Hall of Fame the other day. :)

Quality post. The difficulty of pro golf courses is something I didn't consider.

Using this same arguement, I'd say same thing for an avg bball player. Its tought to get your own shot in the NBA, esp against a 6'8" athetlic freak in your face.

Biggest gap in sports? I'd say Anna Kournikova. I think she's dated everybody.

Yeah, but I'm all arm. If I learned the proper mechanics to actually use my legs and torso I'd probably be able to get close to 80. Especially if I actually worked at it. I throw a baseball maybe 20 times a year, all of them at the HOF.

I dont know about Golf, but I will add that I shoot in the low 80s, on a good day high 70s. I went and played Inverness in Toledo last summer the day after the SR Open finished (those guys tore it up, and they arent even the pros anymore). I had played Inverness the last day it was open before they started setting up for the Open (aka, the normal condition) and shot an 83. I played it the day after, and shot 95.

Same with Highland Meadows for the womens Jamie Farr a few years ago. Shot an 81, 6 weeks later shot a 91. I can say for sure, it was 95% because the course was much, much harder.

He is still up there. But his body is falling to pieces. He isnt quick anymore, and has a somewhat bad back. I think this may be his last go round to try and make a semi (Wimbledon and US Open). But that is a big stretch. Guys have tape on him and can return that serve more now than before.

How'd you get on Inverness? You a member?

My dad knows a few members.

The second time I got on because they did this thing when they allowed Media to play the day after the Open to see what the course was like. I know they do this at a few places, so Inverness just did it as well. I didnt even cover the event, but I took my chances that my credential would work (for BCSN) and it did. So I played with my dad (you got 1 guest).

It just popped in my head lol

I went to a high end ping pong place in Manhattan a few weeks ago. They had some pros there playing and giving lessons. Dudes were playing like 15-20 feet off the table.....mind was blown.

Lol didn't Durant drop like 80 at Rucker? I'm not saying bball is the toughest but you're crazy if you think there are 1000s of random dudes who could hang in the NBA.

Nadals serve isnt that tough, but I get your point. He just typically will spin it in, and it isnt too powerful. Someone who played tennis at a high level in HS can probably get it back, but then its game over.
