video games do not attack kids, bullies do. kids chose to use video games, kids do not chose to be bullied.dlazz;1199626 wrote:Spoiler: most kids are bullied. It's not a new phenomenon, but it's easy to point fingers at bullies when something happens.
The same principle applies to video games contributing to violent behavior. More often than not, kids who shoot up a school or fight other kids play video games.
HOWEVER, that point is useless since MOST KIDS PLAY VIDEO GAMES.

Fight back could mean throw a punch, shoot up the gymnasium, or rape a woman later in life because the poor kid who was "bullied" decided he was pissed he didn't have a prom date. Good call CCccrunner609;1199409 wrote:I went to school 20+ years ago and I would say that suicide wasnt really ever heard of. Bullying = a fist fight back in my day.
My generation was taught to not take **** and to fight back. Now today these kids are taught that someone else will handle their problems for them but personally that doesnt work.

I'm pretty sure he means "not let it boil up and overflow" which is what some kids are doing.
Instead of sticking up for themselves, they just puss out and keep taking it and taking it until they snap and do something stupid.
At least that's how I read it.

Kids can tell if a person is sincere in protecting them. When teachers and administrators believe that bullying is natural and we should accept it, that “we should not mess with what nature intended for us." They know there is no protection for them.

the point is people have a choice about the violent effect of video games, use or not to use. the person being bullied does not have the choice of being in the situation.dlazz;1200171 wrote:

Teachers aren't babysitters. There are plenty of times when a kid can get bullied when there isn't administration around. Your points are assuming that teachers are the sole purpose and they're turning a blind eye to kids getting pummeled in school, and thus are baseless and pointless. Your argument is shit, and I'm about 90% sure you're trolling us.isadore;1200180 wrote:Kids can tell if a person is sincere in protecting them. You're still missing the point.isadore;1200182 wrote:the point is people have a choice about the violent effect of video games, use or not to use. the person being bullied does not have the choice of being in the situation.
The point I'm making is that people put the blame on video games for everything, though it's a crap argument since most children play video games.
Blaming bullies for kids killing themselves is a weak argument too, since most of us are bullied in our lives.
I can see how you missed that though, since you're a fucking moron.

you under estimate the effect schools can have on the problem. Many if not most kids spend more time with their teachers and coaches than they do with their parents. They can and should play a major role in solving the problem.Con_Alma;1199904 wrote:Amen. No amount of effort by a school system can or will ever solve such an issue.

gosh a ruddies it is not my fault you made an inapplicable analogy. With the death of so many of these kids there is an obvious direct relationship between the bullying and their suicides.dlazz;1200184 wrote:You're still missing the point.

they are in loco parentis. And there are only limited times that faculty and administration is not around. Obviously they are not the sole purpose but if they are doing their jobs children should be safe in the schools.dlazz;1200183 wrote:Teachers aren't babysitters. Just because some kid cant handle being picked on(like 99% of kids are at some point) doesnt mean if they go kill themselves that the bully should be charged with murder or anything of the sort. Kids are just pussies now.

I was picked on clear up through middle school because I was small. I didn't weigh 100 pounds until my freshman year of high school. I don't recall ever getting into a fight. No after school detention, suspensions, whatever.isadore;1200207 wrote:social darwinism in action

I have not underestimated it at all. I do not want social issue solved and funded to solve. We rely on schools too much as it is already.isadore;1200185 wrote:you under estimate the effect schools can have on the problem. I respectfully decline any movement by schools to provide services that others entities are specifically in place to perform. If kids or families have a problem they need to seek those entities out.

Some people have less support at home, some are more physically abused, some are members of various minority groups that intensify the bullying and which further isolates the victim.Pick6 wrote:Some people are just mentally weak.

since kids spend so much time in school, it makes sense for schools to have a policy about bullying.Con_Alma;1200215 wrote:I have not underestimated it at all. I do not want social issue solved and funded to solve. We rely on schools too much as it is already.

Of course they should have a policy. Did someone say they shouldn't? Don't they all have such policy's?isadore;1200242 wrote:since kids spend so much time in school, it makes sense for schools to have a policy about bullying.
