Thavoice will you please pipe down with this negative BS. The reds season isn't over because of one loss on national tv. And seriously? Andruzic? Seriously?

Does anything think that being in the BP will retard, uh huh, i said retard, Chapmans growth as a pitcher? Last year he had control problems, and pretty much could only throw a FB for a strike with any consistancy, and at times that was even tough. I think that was a simple victim of trying to throw 103+ every pitch.

When he was battling for a spot in the rotatoin this spring he got in more innings. More innings means more pitches and in turn allowed him to work on his slider, change and such. Early this year outta the pen he was still blowing away hitters and also was throwing that 92 mph slider for a strike and making guys look rediculous. Then he went on a streak of games of throwing pretty much nothing but heat. He was still blasting guys but I think now that the hitters dont even consider the slider they are sitting on the FB. 99-100 is fast..no doubt...but when a MLB player is 99.99999% certain that is what is coming he is more likely to hit it. earlier on the missile was throwing more sliders and keeping htat in their minds.

As a reliever it is harder to work on that...less pitches
I wish he would throw the slider, and even the changeup more often, but it's obvious he doesn't have confidence in them when someone is on base. I also think he struggles to come in and have to pitch out of the stretch right away.

That's where we went before the game 2 Saturdays ago. It was really fun and packed. Little pricey but it is right outside the stadium so to be expected. I heard the ***** country singers joint right next to it is pretty fun too.

I think the WP he threw was a changeup that scored the run. Thing the gun said 89 and it didnt break or anything like that.

Early on he was dumping that slider in there and it was just plain unfair to the hitter. It was so nasty that the hitter virtually had no chance to make contact. He went through a few outings in row where he didnt even attempt one, and the old saying "use it or lose it" def comes into play. He was making guys look bad even just throwing FB's, but at that time they had a small doubt in their mind what was coming. Now there is no doubt. Also, they interviewed Tom Browning the other day and he made the point that he wasnt getting ahead and throwing as many strikes the other night, and any big league hitter who sees a few extra pitches will be able to time up any fastball. When he was on he was getting strike one on the first pitch often, and retiring the inning with 3-4 pitches to a hitter.

I agree that he doesnt seem as comfortable coming in with guys on base. I like him as a closer better than a setup guy, but still want him in the rotation.

Reds Lineup:

Heisey
Valdez(WTF)
Votto
Phillips
Bruce
Frazier
Ludwick
Hanigan
Cueto

Hanigan should be above Ludwick, but at least Frazier made the jump.

I love Valdez batting 2nd. He has the 2nd lowest OBP of guys with 50 PA in the entire league. Dinglebaker.

He's a SS, has to bat either 1st or 2nd, as Hanigan has to hit 8th because he's a catcher. It's baseball rules, can't blame Dusty.

Hopefully Cueto can pitch a gem tonight.

Doubt any of you are watching STO. But they just showed a hitting streak graphic. Asdrubal Cabrera has hit in 12 stright, what is impressive is he has managed to drop his average from .300 to .296 (before tonights GO) in that span. Because he has only gotten 1 hit in 10 of the 12 games and 2 hits in the other 2. lol

Indians with a good inning - get him on, get him over, get him in - and used 21 of Johnny's pitches. Now the Reds have two hits and 1st and 3rd with 1 out, how will they finish out this inning? DP by BP?

BP is a double play machine in that four hole. Wasted opportunity #1.

I posted that about 10 sec before the DP was complete! What a shame!

I am digging seeing the pitchers bat. That's the pure game and (for the hundredth time) I wish there was no DH. Any NLer's want the DH?

Yeah, watching Jeanmar Gomez lay down a bunt with a runner on first and 2 outs was an awesome thing to watch.

Absolutely not.

Of course, it's absolutely going to happen so might as well just get it over with and give it to us as soon as possible.

Playing in the AL has given him a "fundamentals deficit syndrome"! Or maybe he is just practicing for when the sac bunt is in order!
