In fairness to the guys, it is hard to win when you replace Votto with Costanzo

Ehh, that's a tad too far.

The first gmae our first 2 batters were Stubbs and Valdez..that'll never fucking happen again. This game Votto isn't in the starting lineup. Clearly Dusty chose this series as the "rest the guys in the middle of 20 straight games" series.

Not discrediting the Pirates though...they're obviously playing pretty well and are at .500. Lot better than the fucking Brewers.

That game tape should be filed under NSFW in Dustys office.

Heisey had 2 of the 4 Reds hits and was robbed of a double.....can't wait for Luddy to get the next start. In Game 1 he had the only RBI for the Reds....then gets benched so Luddy can face the easier to hit Morton.

Since May 13th, Heisey's average has gone from .200 to .283. I think something has clicked in with him and being able to handle the breaking ball. A while back on TV they mentioned a slight change in his hand position. Lately he has gotten a few hits on the breaking ball, but even more importantly, has learned to foul them off or lay off of them. Even though his strike outs are up, I'm betting the number of pitches he sees per AB is up.

Heisey has won the LF job, imo.

Sweeps are nice, but it isnt needed.

WIn series, that is all it takes and then it adds up by the end of the season.

12-8 on their 20 in 20 stretch. 60% winning over the season gets you in the postseason comfortably.

Always gotta look at the big picture in MLB season.

Dusty will get Luddy in there at least twice a week and the odds of Stubbs sitting is just going to happen...FYI Stubbs is fast. If Usain Bolt was a lefty we'd have quite the conundrum.

Good series for the Pirates. Helps to have McDonald and Burnett pitching two of the three games. Adding Burnett and Bedard to the rotation seems to have helped out a lot since they're in contention even with their horrible offense. And having guys like Grilli and Hanrahan in the pen doesn't hurt. The 8th and 9th innings are scary most of the time, but they get through unscathed nearly all the time.
