I am considering buying a vehicle with "solar" glass, but am used to privacy glass (a couple notches darker). If I don't like the solar, I may want to have just the rear windows darkened to the privacy level. Of course not the front, driver, or passenger windows, just the back 3 (Prius or Elantra Touring don't offer privacy glass). Do the after market tintings look good and last? How much should I expect to pay? Anyone have a good experience with tinting in Eastern Ohio?

Dthane, go to the glass place by the old bread place on Sunset..near Lovers Lane.

It will probably run you a few hundred, but it will be professional and last the life of the car.

I had my old car done in Florida and it was flawless..and really dark. Ohio doesn't allow you to go that dark though.

There is no limit on how dark the tint can be on the rear doors and back window.

Any good, reputable company will have a lifetime warranty on there tint. You shouldn't have to pay any more than a couple hundred. I had mine done for $189, lifetime warranty, 20% on all 5 windows, so just the 3 should be around there or cheaper.

I will check by Monroe (if it's somewhere around there). it doesn't have to be real dark, and I wouldn't need it on the front at all. It's pretty hot to me from May-Sept. No decisions yet.

Don't know if it's happening in other cities but a town near where I live (Alliance), the cops are pulling people over for their window tint? I'm cautious about driving my new Camaro into Alliance for fear these a-holes will pull me over. I had the vehicle shipped in from Joliet, IL so the tinting came with it. Is there a law in Ohio about window tint?

off hand i dont know it. i have written it before but not in a long time. just remember, most windows come with a small percentage of tint from the factory so adding on the "legal" amount would then make it illegal.

yes, there is a tint limit on the front windows and windshield, I believe its 20%. No limit on rear windows. I have a friend that's been pulled over a couple times for it but has just been given warnings and told to fix it.

Just had mine done, limit on front windows is 30%.

Incorrect. The legal limit in Ohio on the front windows is 50%, while there is no limit on the back windows and back windshield. You also can't put any tint on the front windshield past the AS1 line at the top.

Also reflective tint is illegal no matter what the % may be.

It's the auto glass company on the other side of Sunset from Monroe...across from the auto parts store.

I think that's Advance Auto Glass, across the street from Advance Auto Parts, but I can't remember if the bank 200 feet west of there was ever Advance Financial. Hmmmm......

1995, did you have your tinting done here and were you satisfied? They wouldn't need to touch the front, driver, or passengers windows at all.
