Correct son. I was watching on the news this morning. He said the lawyer told him he could claim he was innocent, but what was going to happen when he walked into the courtroom...it'd be his word vs hers, and he was the big, mean looking black guy.

It would help if:

1) We treated perjury as a serious crime. It is a crime but usually there isn't much ramifications for lying on the stand.

2) The prosecutors need to be held accountable. This woman/girl was obviously non-credible, what type of judgment (or lack thereof) did they use.

I'm sure he did. Still, a competent defense lawyer should be able to create more than reasonable doubt in a he said/she said "it happened in the elevator, no it happened on the stairs" case with no corroborating evidence. Advising to accept a plea in that situation is insane.
