If you haven't seen this, you must check this out. It's a pretty cool 360 degree view of Paris from the top of the Eiffel Tower. I heard this a couple years back and I really think it will end up holding true... with the way technology is evolving & growing, people will go on fewer vacations. Why? Because people will be able to see the sights from technology like Google Earth or this wonderful website.

Here's another one that I know has been shared on this site before, but for kicks...

They're doing one w a 360 degree view from the tip of my penis looking out over all of Ohio.

Those are very nice, though.

If that were true, wouldn't you think cameras would have made vacations obsolete? I prefer to see things in person.

I have no interest or concern for cameras or videotaping life's moments. For, I do not want to miss the actual moment by, instead, seeing that moment through a camera viewfinder.

Do people really still use cameras and videocameras these days? We live on lake-front property.

Thats cool, but seeing it in person and being there is 100x better. I wouldnt never substitute a vacation for that. Doesnt do Paris justice at all.

I think it's crazy how few sky scrapers there are there. Obviously they have a lot more older buildings that can't be built up, but it seems like it sprawls a lot more than our cities do.

It does. Paris is huge, in terms of sprawl. The newer cities are built taller, but the older ones cant be. This is true throughout Europe. A lot of cities that had the War in them have rebuilt with skyscrapers as well. I think Paris is like 7,000 Sq Mi. (New York is around 6,000).

No, because cameras before could only capture a small view. Now? Cameras can capture a 360 degree view of everything one would need to see.

I'm not saying no one will go on vacations; I'm saying, people who might have traveled to see... say... the Sistine Chapel will now be able to do so right from their own computer room.

I've seen the Paris thing before (or something extremely similar for another city) but it is really cool. I really have no desire to visit Paris, though. Something about French people.

I thought the French were extremely polite until someone was rude to them and then they had no trouble being rude right back. As long as you used a little french and tried they were very nice. (Mostly I asked "Parlez vous english?") I loved how every shop I walked into they would say "Bon jour".

Plus, porn stars are way hotter than anything you could pick up at a bar.

I don't think people go on vacation to simply "see the sights" but rather see the sights when they are on vacation.

We go places to experience them. We went to Bali to experience the culture and the environment. The sights added to that. The sights alone can't provide an understanding of what it's like there.

Classic Con_Alma, but aren't the sights part of the environment?

Of course, which is why I said the sights added to that right in the post you quoted.
