This is what happens when the kid nags to go to the amusement park. Sounds like the brat had it coming.

Sometimes you have to make an example out of one kid, so the others will toe the line.

Shit happens.

You can almost see the panic set in as they realize they might lose their gubmit meal ticket.

That said, I'll admit to being surprised the couple wasn't some hilljack rednecks.

You always have to look for the silver lining...10 to 1 they are already talking to a lawyer about suing over lack of safety shutoff or inability to interrupt the cycle.

Good point, someone other than the parent's involved are responsible for this tragedy.

Absolutely. The greedy dryer mfr needs to be accountable for skirting safety standards. But in all honesty, I've not seen a dryer where you can't just open the door and it shuts off. Bizarre to watch them unable to open the door. Probably made in China.

It's possible it's a washer. Those side-loader washers will lock so you cant open it up and spill water everywhere.

Shame on the manufacturer for not having an "oops I put my baby in the washer/dryer" button. That was the first option we looked for on our Whirlpool so we didn't have to give the kids baths.

The parents are pretty damn stupid. That being said, maybe it wouldn't be such a terrible idea to have emergency stop buttons on the front of the machines. Or the mental capacity to unplug the machine. IDK, glad these aren't my parents.

I wonder what the conversation sounded like once they got the dryer turned off.."umm..so why exactly was he in the dryer for...??"

If you look through the comments, there was a guy suggesting it was the laundramat's fault. I'm not so sure about an "emergency stop" button. It's a dryer, not a treadmill.

I don't get why they couldn't open the door?

Edit--NVM it was a front loading washer. They lock once they fill with water for obvious reasons. Dumb parents.

Ehhh, I'm kind of in the camp that there should be some sort of emergency shut off type thing, because what if it were a couple kids playing and they did something like this? Having literally no way of opening the door is a little ridiculous.

That being said, I hope these people go to jail for quite a while.
