Thinking of planning a vacation to Negril, Jamaica in the middle of August. Any one ever been? I'm looking for recommendations for food, sights, night life, and any interesting ways I can immerse myself in the culture (aside from indulging in the ganj haha).

Where are you staying? My girlfriend and I want to go to Rockhouse, but unfortunately we are poor.

I was looking in to the White Sands Negril. Very reasonably priced considering I'm on the budget of a college student. Also, most of the reviews are overwhelmingly positive.

My wife an I just stayed in Negril in mid April for our honeymoon. We stayed at Couples Swept Away. There's a few dockside bars your resort will take you around on a catamaran at night, but most of the night life was on site at the resort. We're planning on going back on vacation next year, but will probably stay in the Rose Hall area.

My fiancee and I will be heading to Sandals Whitehouse resort in October.

We are not sure if we are doing any excursions or just hang at the resort the whole week.

Negril? Careful this isn't the 50's anymore. They prefer the word Black now.

Rockhouse is awesome, highly recommend it. The rooms rates really aren't that bad, with standard rooms starting at $125/night in the summer. What will add up is all the meals and drinks, since it is not an all-inclusive.
