But the thing with people continually coming after you. That's taken care of under the new set of rules, so you don't have to defend yourself. It's one of the things we were advocating for because of posters just following other posters around and constantly shitting on threads.

This post from like_that is all that needs to be said.Because other than Justin (the creator of this site), wtf makes you guys so special over the other posters where you can make these rules? The pink username? With all due respect to most of the mods, because I like most of them, it's not like you guys "earned" mod status as most forums do with their mods. Most of you guys were immediately appointed to be mods as soon as Justin made the site, because he liked you guys as posters on the huddle.
They don't respect us as mods, never have, and never will. Doesn't matter if we infract the hell out of each other or not. The normal, everyday poster doesn't respect the mods. What happens 99% of the time when you give someone an infraction or warning? You get a pissed off, sarcastic PM from the poster. Instead of respecting the warning or infraction, they bitch and moan about it because we are power hungry. They don't respect any of us, Justin included.
If they did, that thread wouldn't have developed the way it did. They would take the new rules and post by them.

It is the internet...we don't need respect. But we cannot get into pissing matches with them. Just do what needs to be done and ignore them. Fly4fun is right...we have to be better.

Someone brought up a legit inconsistency in the way the rules are written in sleeper's new basement thread.
In the 6 ALL FORUM rules, we allow some in the basement (personal attacks), but not others (porn/gore pics). A new user seriously would be confused. Should we reorganize the listed rules/speficially lay out basement "rules" to eliminate all confusion?
EDIT: In unrelated rules page news, you can lop off any politics rules dealing with thread approval

The only thing I can come up with is leaving the 6 ALL FORUM ones there, remove the basement thing you added, but add (basement excluded) in the ALL FORUM part after the 3 that don't apply, or (this includes the basement) after the 3 that do, whichever way you feel like would get the point across more effectively. I'll take a look at it again.
I was venting with my wife on our drive home from her parents tonight. Venting about the general reaction to stuff so far. She brought up some great points about us just ignoring their complaints/bitching. They want to get a reaction out of us. They want to get under our skin. Just don't give them the satisfaction. Don't feel the need to justify yourself on the forums. Just moderate based on the rules and call it a day. Obviously, still post but just don't acknowledge when they bitch and moan about the new protocols. I agree completely. So, from here on out just ignore them. Even in the basement. If someone has a legit question about the rules or something, yes, go ahead and answer it. But if they are just trying to be a dick about it, fuck 'em.

To add on to the above, the reason that we shouldn't acknowledge their bitching anymore. The new rules aren't under discussion. It's my site, it isn't run by the dick heads of the community (anymore). If they don't like it they can leave. If the site is going to die it's going to be on my terms, not theirs.

You pretty much just posted exactly what I wanted to say. They do that just to get a rise out of you, and to bitch and moan if you do something that "breaks" the rules and don't get punished. Let it slide. If you can't, and just want to be a regular poster then drop the mod duties and have at it. Going round and round with people just makes us look bad. I'm still in the air. I'd take a paycut for the first 6 months, but would go way up after that. Baby Daddy is also already signed up to take it, so I have to decide how awkward that whole thing would be. I probably will. My job is ok now, but I get 0 field time. I am not meant to sit at a desk.
