Samardzija vs. Arroyo.

Reds Lineup:

Cozart
Stubbs
Votto
Phillips
Bruce
Rolen
Heisey
Hanigan
Arroyo

Was raining really hard for about 30 minutes, but has stopped now. Looking at the radar I think there will be another spout of rain but they should get this one in I believe.

Rain is knocking on the door and my guess is if they get started it won't last more than the top of the inning. Should be fine in 30-45 minutes to get going though.

Apparently, Samardzija is headed to the pen. And the Reds players are headed to the clubhouse.

All according to John Fay

If this game gets played and we were playing the Astros, there'd be 12 people there.

All 3 this past weekend had ~30K

But I agree.

This is a Tuesday night, terrible rainy weather, and in this hypothetical situation the Astros.

Get off the plane from Hawaii... Get home and pumped to turn the game on, and it's canceled. Huge bummer.

Well, the rain did stop but it rained really really hard for awhile so I'm guessing that was the problem.

That always sucks. Last year we drove 2 hours to Clippers games.......twice got rained out, and the third had an hour rain delay, and got 2-3 rain delays on the reds/rockies game last year!

Plenty of time to make this game up....

I was surprised that the reds/stros series had 30k+. I know it was the first weekend of the 4 for 48 deal which could have helped. Sunday was Celina and Portsmouth day with half price tickets for quite a few people. I was thinking it would be bad crowds for the stros...especailly sat with shitty weather.

This brings up a nother topic....

Anyone been to a ML double header before? I was once at Riverfront...but the second game we were behind the dugout as most left.

Did you drink beer while there? If so, NEVER say you were there for nothing!

With all the $$$ Justin makes off this site, I think he could have had one beer. If he decided to skip lunch today. And maybe tomorrow.

My girlfriend and I were having dinner at Newport, and walked over and scalped tickets for $2 each for Fridays game. Can't beat that.

Crowd was really slow to arrive, but it was a solid 30k. Too bad Leake sucked.

Saturday was fleece blanket night so there was a big crowd. Sunday was probably a family day, they've done a good job promoting the Sunday games.

One thing I don't understand is all their big giveaways are on weekends. Why not do some weekdays to get some crowds then?

Sunday I know there was Celina Day, Portsmouth Day, a promo for season ticket holders to be on the field before the game (they had them all around the field on the warning track areas) and such.
For celina/portsmouth day those in the communities, or anyone who knew abou it, could get many seats half off.

I think they do have some of the good giveaways on weed days as well. I think they realize most people can make it on the weekends and cater to that.

What some pepople dont know is the dollar hot dog and pop stand..upper deck way on the end. I know there were people taking boxes of them down...20-30 at a time. I think we killed 14-16 of them.

Was about to start a game thread, but since yesterday was rained out this would qualify as game 1, so I'll just leave this thread to be the game thread. Same pitchers, same lineup.
