Paige certainly was also a great pitcher. Did he patch continuously after 50, or just some cameos? If cameo, was that his only one and how far was he between retiring and coming back?

So I make it to PNC in time to see the warmups. Correia looks impressive, popping the mitt and good command. Moyer is throwing effortlessly and working on his feel pitches.
The Rockies jump up 2-0 and it is still 2-1 when he leaves the game. The fastest ball I saw on the gun was 79 mph, and that was just one ball. Fastball average was 76-79 mph. The slowest I saw was 67 mph. If he went for a college tryout they would tell him to come back when he gets his fastball up to 85 mph.

He was a true magician out there, finding holes in swings, keeping the Pirates off balance, and enticing the Pirates (not quite the best team in baseball) to swing at/hit either the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd pitch about 90 percent of the time. He got a no decision, as did Correia, who threw very well after the first 3 batters of the game. What I thought was funny was when the Rockies brought in the 94-95mph pitcher, the Pirates started beating the ball. I think it is safe to say that every pitcher from Little League on up could learn something from Moyer.

Pittsburgh's two seventh-inning runs turned a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 lead. McCutuchen's double off the center field wall was the third consecutive hit to begin the inning off lefty Rex Brothers, who on average throws 20 mph faster than Moyer.
''I couldn't wait to see 95. Honestly,'' McCutchen said. ''I mean, you don't see 70-79 every day. ... For (Moyer) to do what he did, he did a pretty good job. But as soon as another arm came in there throwing pretty hard, I was like, 'All right, here we go.'''

I imagine if he sticks around all season that he will lead the league in 5 and dive starts.

Not necessarily of his age, but because I think teams will size up his "stuff" and the third time around he would get hit hard.

Kudos to him. Love those stories of old fogies showing up the young uns. That dude from the rookie, and that one swimming chick.....look up to them. I took on a pretty big task that usually is designed for 18-22 year olds and always took some solace from those before me who defied the odds
