In some cases, a trip to the ER is punishment enough...

Was this the unpaid ambulance bill?

I got one in PA 25 years ago when I was 18. Had to walk home from the police station and paid an $80 fine. No court, no classes. This makes me feel old.

you can go in there w/ out a lawyer and ask the prosecutor what you would be looking at and if you dont like the answer get a continuance and then get a lawyer. dont be in a rush to get the case over with, depending on where you are the longer it drags out the better deal you are likely to get.

That was not my experience.

I would hire a lawyer for this if you can afford it. If you can't afford a lawyer, just plead guilty and take the fine.

Lawyers are expensive, but they are well worth it if you hire a good one. If you get one good enough, he might be able to make the cops who gave you the ticket pay money to you for pain and suffering. I've seen it happen before. Book it!

I got a ticket for underage consumption from an undercover cop when I was 19. Went to court, entered a plea of no contest, got a fine of $151.00 (was the minimum), paid it that same day and that was that.

I think it would be silly to get a lawyer but clearly not every experience is the same as mine. And btw, it has not kept me from getting a job.

I turn 21 in July as well and have been lucky enough not to get an underage. *knock on wood*
Basically I really only have to last until the end of the semester and I should be good, will more than likely be too busy with work in the summer to go out.

The sad thing is that is what I normally do. I probably go out drinking outside of my apartment 1-2 times a month. Only takes once though...
