Like him or not, he has an interesting take on the future of the NCAA. I know it has been discussed, especially on the football side, but it's definitely something I can see as the Super Conferences form and gain more financial power.

I think he is right, at least for football. I see the power conference (and maybe all) just forming their own postseason. That would be the begininng of the end.

Basketball is a bit different, but I can see it going that way if football succeeds without it.

He is probally wishing they weren't around when they made him vacate his 2 Final Four appearances. But I do agree the NCAA needs to go away.

A lot of people hate on Cal, I've always liked him for some reason. I could always tell he really cares about his players.

The recent tossing around of a 128 team bracket for basketball seems to point to the NCAA needing more members on board to thwart off a revolt. The conference reallignment in football and a +1 seem desperate to separate the universities from the NCAA as much as possible. The NCAA has been in trouble for awhile, their inconsistency is their own fault.

People also hate on him because he has swagger and is a great coach, but those are reasons I like him. He's not terribly obnoxious when it comes to in game bickering (cough cough Coach K), but to me it's his desire to see his players succeed that makes me like him.

He's fake, arrogant, a narcissist and a cheat. Luvs getting his mug on TV more than any other coach. And I highly doubt the NCAA is going away anytime soon. As for the NCAA people getting nicer hotels and such...isn't that going on just about everywhere in this country? The big wigs, big companies, they are always going to get their perks. It is what it is. Come from a guy who makes millions, wants for nothing, wears a $1000 suit to games, I'd call that a hypocrite.

Not many coaches care about their players like Cal does. He always has John Wall back in Lexington shooting jump shots at Rupp to help him when he's struggling. You just don't really see the care he treats his current and past players very often. Not saying it doesn't happen elsewhere, but I don't really pay attention to Cal or UK and can see it. So obviously he's very genuine.

I dont think Cal's UK Final Fours will be vacated, simply because I don't think he has to cheat at UK. He did at UMASS and Memphis, but not at Kentucky.

Bullshit. Any successful coach cares about their players. All the top ones go above and beyond in this area. Any good/great coach is in the profession because they enjoy working with student/athletes of this age. That is what resenates when it comes to recruiting players to the program. You see it often at the great programs when other players return to watch games, participate in the program. Saw the Morris twins at KU, OSU had MANY former players back multiple times this year, MSU had a boat load at the game yesterday. Seeing that, shows the coach built a special relationship with his players. Look at coach K and Knight. Look at the relationship Wooden had with MANY of his players. I played for one of the greatest HS coaches ever in the state, and the guy was a better person, cared more for his players then he was a great coach. It all goes hand in hand. Cal is no different than any successful coach in the nation. Every coach? No. But as I said, they won't last long if they don't care.

He called up Drexel and talked to Bruiser Flint(former assistant) last night before Drexel's conference championship game against VCU. Then talked to their team. Pretty cool that he did that.

Reminds me of when Bobby Knight called Coach K, before the conversation ended he said, "but, I dont know why you are even listening to me...you will just buy another title" (referencing the 1992 National Semifinal). Gotta admire his stubbornness to let anything go. While somethings are just petty, this was funny to me.

That is actually pretty funny. Knight is the one basketball coach I think I'd like to sit down and have a drink with the most (even more than K). I've had the opportunity to meet K, but never Knight. I'm sure he's even more legendary in person.

My cousin got to be a counselor at a bball camp when Knight was coach still. He used him as an example of a perfect chest pass. He had his picture snapped for the Ft. Wayne Newspaper while the ball is in the air, his thumbs pointed down after the snap and Bobby is on the side looking and pointing (obviously giving instructions). Coach Knight signed it, "Ive never said this before. Great pass Patrick. Best wishes, Coach Knight"

Cousins name is Patrick, and Coach was obviously poking fun at his son Pat. I get a chuckle every time I walk by the photo.
