First of all, during that time I never had the "let's build the team round the QB" philosphy, because our QB position is 10x more bleak than it is now.

Also, as I said earlier, that comparison is apples to oranges. The Browns PASSED on rapistberger, they didn't consider throwing away 4-5 picks for him. HUGE difference. I want RG3, and if he falls to the Browns at 4, I am all for it, and would actually be pissed if they passed on him. I am sure as hell not for throwing away 4-5 picks to move up two spots though. He isn't worth it. If we don't get him, the worst case scenario for the Browns is they have 2 first round picks. That's a pretty damn good position to be in.

You are just throwing out exceptions to the rule. You have no idea if this guy is going to be a franchise QB or not. Everyone thought Ryan Leaf was going to be a franchise QB. Imagine if a team threw 4-5 draft picks for him.


God forbid we draft two good players in the first round that will make the Browns better!

I don't really think anyone is arguing that RG3 could turn out to be an all pro. I think that there are two sides....people that think you give up whatever it takes to get him and people like me, S&L and like_that....that believe that we may have to pay too big of price to get him.

I honestly think the price may not end up being that huge. If WASH guts their draft by giving up this years 1st, 2nd & 3rd AND 2013's 1st, the Browns would have to give up 4, 22 and likely their 3rd and the Browns would STILL have the better offer.

This is all fun & all but until FA plays out we REALLY don't know what's gonna happen. Wash & Miami could fill their needs before the draft.

All I know is that the Browns only REAL competition in a trade up is Washington and IF Cleveland wants him, they are pretty much in the drivers seat. Now we just wait to see about that "if." Shanahan is in a "win now" mode and although RG3 might be the "sexy" pick, a proven veteran like a Peyton Manning might help him save his neck faster than a rookie who will likely go through some growing pains. Remember, Snyder isn't the most patient man.

If the colts hang on to Peyton could luck be possibly available? It looks like garçon is leaving Indy and Wayne might be leaving also if they don't keep manning. It could definitely get interesting

Too risky with Peyton's injury situation. Not sure if true but I'd heard the Colts didn't even interview RG3 at the Combine. That's how locked in they are on Luck.

Yeah, I think that is your perfect storm. The less bidders for rg3, the better off we are. I know you guys don't agree, but I honestly think that Washington is the only other realistic bidder...so with them gone, he can slide to 4.

Anyone who thinks the Colts aren't taking Luck is an idiot. They have not hidden the fact that they want Luck since they figured out Peyton wasn't going to be playing last season.

Washington is the only one I'd really worry about. Miami's cost would be astronomical unless they threw in someone like Brandon Marshall, etc. Seattle, who also needs a QB, won't be in the ballpark. Washington is THE team that I could see being stupid enough to gut their draft this year AND next.

I would LOVE to have the best of both world's and have him fall to #4 but I'm skeptical it happens. I think people think my mindset is "well shit, we HAVE the two 1st rounders, might as well use them" like there's no value in having those picks. Not so but I also realize if they want what looks like an elite QB they are going to have to go up and get him. Will it be painful for many to even think of? Sure but I really think this kid is going to be something really special and in a few years the picks used to move up will be an afterthought.

Take into consideration that STL may heavily covet Kalil, Blackmon or Claiborne. You trade down to 6 and you likely miss out on ALL three. You trade down to 4, you get one of your guys AND another 1st rounder this year. That's something that has to be accounted for. STL may not want to drop down too far where they miss out on one of their top targets.

True, I just think that value wise...you may be getting the 6th best player in the draft plus maybe a top ten next year(not sure how next years class is viewed). The browns would be the safer offer for sure, but if Washington shit the bed next year, considering what division they are in....that could be a great pick next year.

I think Arizona is going to emerge as a suitor for Manning. Very winnable division, play in a dome, good receivers, and a history with Warner of bringing in a veteran QB for a stretch run at the end of their career.

They seemed fairly underwhelmed with Kolb, so I think they would have no problem cutting him loose if it meant bringing Peyton to town.

I could be wrong, but I just don't see Peyton having the appetite for the NFC east with a Washington team that is really not that close right now. That is a tough and bruising division, not to mention he would play Eli twice a year.

The NFC west is a joke outside of SF, who is made great strides, but still isn't what I would call a world beater.

Peyton has about 2-3 years if he is healthy, so I see him going to the place that is most ready to win immediately.
