I hate to be like others on this site (and other sites) but fuck him. Kelly's recruits his ass off on defense, we'll just plug another guy in there. It's really nice to be able to say that after so many years. I'll miss his potential but if someone's gonna be pussywhipped there's nothing you can do about it.

I don't think that's what happened. He's been kind of homesick since he's been there. Just kept building up and he even said recently that he didn't really like the Midwest.
A couple of weeks ago he got in a fight during practice then was excused from the next practice so he could go home and clear his head. He had pretty much a week and a half at home with it being over Easter break and I'd guess that's when the final decision was made. If all this came up during the season it probably would have worked out different. Doing nothing but school and practice doesn't help you get over homesickness.

That all changed this spring as rumors spread Lynch was not happy in South Bend and tension grew when Lynch was dismissed from practice prior to the Easter weekend.
By Tuesday, many felt the issue was behind the Irish standout as he returned to campus only to be struck down again Friday morning as a press conference was called to discuss the situation.
Just before the presser Notre Dame released the following on Lynch. “DE Aaron Lynch has left the football team and will transfer to another school following the spring semester,” posted Brian Hardin on Twitter.

Yeah Kelly said the same thing basically. You have to be 100% in it mentally or you won't make it. Definitely sucks to lose a player of his caliber but d line is probably the deepest position on the team.
