of course this list incorporates pro and college accomplishments as well. Which to me throws it off a little. As most Ohioans know, just because a player didn't dominate at the professional level and college in addition to high school, it doesn't trump a great high school career (Diebler, Burson)

I never said LeBron was THE best HS player of all time. I was laughing at skyhook saying he wasn't top 10. Then after that I had to provide my $.02 when somebody tried to say that Diebler was a better HS player than Lebron was

Ummm Lebron won 3 titles at SVSM. Played legit competition, scored alot of points, was the 1st pick in the NBA draft... The "most points" argument is so silly. I've already talked about that. I didn't see Upper Sandusky playing top competition from across the country either... LeBron was taking out #1 teams and had ASVSM ranked #1 in the COUNTRY.

I can't believe that a thread that was meant to discuss Diebler and Jackson has turned into a Lebron defense. I'm not even going to touch that part of the conversation as I see it rediculous to do so.

As far as the actual topic, I think it is tough to do. They play different schedules, with different players around them. They have different roles on their respective teams. Can't we just say that they are both good players and be done with it?

As far as saying that OSU plays better competition, I have to raise a point of their non-league schedules.....X's is better IMO. The Big Ten is a stronger league from top to bottom, but there has been some cupckaes in their the last few years as well.

The tounrey runs of each team the last two years (freshman and sophomore seasons) have been to the advantage of X.

As far as numbers, everyone wants to speak on points. What about everything else? Dante is one of two players to ever record 2000 or more points AND 1000 or moe rebounds. The other is Nate Davis of Bellaire. Dante is THE ONLY player in Ohio history to be in the 2000+ points, 1000+ rebounds, 500+ assists, and 300+ steals in a high school career.

The argument mainly started when someone scoffed at LBJ being a top 10 high school basketball player, then someone else made a comment that Diebler arguably had a better high school career than Lebron.

The only thing Diebler has on Lebron is the scoring record - that is it. Lebron has more state titles, more national titles, and his team had a record of 102-5 when he was there...not to mention that Lebron is still 4th on the all time scoring list despite playing a schedule during his junior and senior year that is tougher than some of the schedules that some college basketball teams play, not against a bunch of chumps in the NOL.

It doesn't even need to be said who you would take in a matchup of Lebron James (during his high school days of course, not present day) and Jon Diebler (during his high school days).

Good stuff...think of all the shots Dante turned down at McClain while running the Tiger offense, and generally sitting out most 4th quarters. Then, couple this with the fact that he is also in the Top 10 in Ohio in career field goal %, as a guard, and he also owns the school record for most 3 pt. field goals. The kid's a smart player, the kind any coach would want in his system.

Dante was an amazing HS player and is a quality college player as well. I feel that this ongoing debate gets a little personal for people on each side. Neither was or is on an entirely separate level of play from the other. I will state that. I stand by my opinion of who's better at each level but I will also state that the margin is very close to me. Dante's all around play gave him the edge in HS but Jon's numbers versus Big Ten talent gives him the edge now.

I'd take Dante Jackson any day over Diebler. IMO he's just a better leader and all-around player.
