Unless I'm misunderstanding how the brackets work, you are also as of a few minutes ago the mom of a state placer. Congrats.

Districts was the first time I saw this kid, and he instantly became one of my favorite guys to watch. I really like how he constantly gets pressure on his opponent's head (heavy hands) and wrestles hard for 6 minutes.

Yes, that was an amazing, heart stopping "go to" bout but he did it. Very proud of him. Thanks!

Another year with only 1 state champ from Darby district. I thought we would at least have 2.

I just read the Columbus Dispatch article on the state Wrestling Tourney. The whole gist of the article was how poor the Central Ohio boys did and how much the performance had dropped off since previous years. I looked at the Darby District results from last year (without the Dayton teams) and compared it to this years. The results show a dramatic improvement. 22 state places this year vs 10 state placers last year. Even though we only had 1 state champ, I think a shoutout is well deserved for the Central Ohio Division 1 boys and the improvement they made.

A lot of Darby's best are seniors: Daniels, Pickett, Delande, Fleming, Murdock, Fiorucci, Nace, Spearman, Stope, Brown, Leidecker, etc.

Anyone got a count of the number of state placers that Darby will return next year vs. the number the district graduates?

How does that compare to other districts?

I think FF is relatively young and the NE just reloads.

i think CD D1 did a great job this year it was good for us to have our kids get there and do well , D2,D3 CD did not do well this year no big teams with Olentangy moving up
D 3 no team in the hunt , in the past you had Desales and Pleasent, west jeff

D1 106 all 4 did great and how about 132 3 out of 4
congrats to Liberty and all other D1 kids that placed

The mentality in central Ohio needs to change. Kids should be looking to WIN state. Not just get there.

Thanks, sportswizuhrd and booboo. Obviously he was hoping to place higher, but he reached his goal of placing at state and, more importantly, is also Academic All-Ohio. Hard work does pay off. :)
