Have you been on one? And did you enjoy it? Is All-inclusive the way to go?

I'm looking for something for the girlfriend and I to do this summer and I've been told it's a pretty good idea. Just wondering what the OC thinks.

The wife and I did Sandals in St Lucia and it was pretty damn good. All the drinking you want and had a really good variety, as well as quality food.

Problem is, I'm looking for something on the cheaper side. I'd like to pay about $1,000 a piece or less. We're both students and we want to get away, but we still want it to be nice. Is that reasonable? I'm not sure what prices to expect or where to find deals.

I checked out Apple Vacations. That's the site I was told about first. It looks promising but I was also told to try to book as "last minute" as I can through them. I hear the prices drop quite a bit when it comes closer to time for the vacation.

I was just curious about any other sites people knew about. Travelbyjen.com had a few nice deals on it as well.

Wife and I went to Cancun for our honeymoon. Did all inclusive. It was amazing. They had 4 different places you could eat dinner. Then of course all of them had buffet for breakfast and lunch. Also they had other hotels where you could go eat at their places too.
We spent about $700 doing excursions. But spent maybe $200 on food from going out. Really we didn't NEED to eat out once.

I think in the future we will only visit places with all inclusive. For $740 a piece to fly and stay at Cancun was amazing. When the wife gets out if the military, we will go again. Military members aren't allowed to travel to Mexico.

Nice. So $740 a piece got you flights, hotel, food, and drink? For a week? That seems like it's low for what I've been seeing. Some of the 4 night trips have been that low, but I've had no luck finding anything longer at a price like that.

We were there 7 nights 8 days. $740. We schedule it about 8 weeks out. And yes to everything you said. Hope you like corona, that's the free beer you'd get. I had no issue with that. Also, while on the beach in from of your hotel, they'll even bring you drinks to there. It's amazing!

That is definitely true unless you route a chit and get it approved from your CO to be allowed to go to Mexico. You can't just freely go.

Money. We were told Mexico is basically off limits completely.

We have Mexicans on my ship that either sneak across to TJ all the time or route a chit. They can easily blend going across the border. The border patrol knows to look for military.

We were not allowed to go to border cities. But I know we had a couple of different families go to Cancun. Maybe they had papers not 100% sure.

While we're on the subject, anyone do any deep sea fishing? Fiance and I both love to fish, and it's something we've never done. They're right around $500 for 5 hours. Worth it or save the money?

I've done all inclusive resorts the last three years and just booked my next for this Sept. IMO its the way to go. I have used both travel agent and applevacations.com. This year I booked directly through Palace Resorts. Heading back to Aventure Spa Palace in Rivera Maya. Went two years ago and really wanted to go back.

Ive been on all inclusives to Cancun, Punta Cana and the Bahamas.

Bahamas have the best beaches. Punta Cana is very laid back and isolated. Cancun has the best night life.

It all depends on what you want to do. You can always check into a cruise. They are fairly cheap, have awesome food and plenty to do on the newer cruise ships and ports that you stop at.
