I'd imagine that the idiot drivers who clog up the left lane would be so afraid of getting a ticket that they would stay in the right lane unless passing. Guessing they aren't smart enough to figure out that it would be hard to enforce.

Make no mistake about it, this has absolutely nothing to do with making traffic flow better, it's merely another money grab for the state, much like seatbelt laws.

I'll cruise in the left lane too, because I'm usually passing traffic doing 5-8 MPH over the speed limit. I keep an eye on who comes up behind me...and I move over when necessary. I don't think this is a problem that needs to be legislated as much as driver's need to be educated on road etiquette. It's pretty simple...don't clog up traffic by hanging out in the left lane.

The people that are int he left line that get out of the way, or speed up to finish a pass and get over are fine. Its the ones that are in the left lane, passing quite a bit of cars but only going like 2 MPH faster. It takes them about 5 minutes to pass 4 cars and when they finally get over the line of 17 cars goes flying by them with death stares lol.

My two buddies back home who are cops both told me on separate occasions that I'd be wise to not hang out in the left lane while driving. They said cops hate that because they want that lane clear in case they have a sudden emergency and need through.

I drive 66 mph in the left lane and I do not move over if someone is flying up on my ass. They don't need to be driving any faster than me since I am already flying over the limit. I will not like this new law.

So if A is driving a car in the right lane at 64 miles an hour and B chooses to pass this car in the left lane going 65mph. Legally how long will they have to pass this car and settle into the right lane again before getting a ticket?

how can you get ticketed if you are going the legal limit no matter what lane you are in? That doesn't seem like a good law. People need to not speed, that'd solve the problems.

under the current law, for safety reasons you dont have to move over.

This. the left lane may be the passing lane or whatever, but it will never be the drive faster than the speed limit lane.

This is ithe kind of inconsiderate attitude I'm talking about. ..."I'm right and I know what's best, so just F*** you"

Just be polite people. If your in the left lane and you are blocking traffic, when you see somebody come up behind you, just move over so they can get by.

This kind of stuff shouldn't have to be legislated.... Just a matter of education on good driving habits and being considerate and safe with the drivers sharing the road.

If the distance to cover the pass safely is approximately 100 feet, then the time it takes would be 52.8 seconds.

This is why they are proposing the law. Some people feel the need to clog the left lane. If they would be kind enough to move over then this wouldn't be an issue.

Catching someone speeding is a lot easier than catching someone not passing in the left lane. You'd actually have to be behind them and follow them long enough.

this also applies to the people who drive above the speed limit and expect you to move out of the way when you have no legal obligation to do so(as long as you drive the posted speed limit).

I think the threat of getting a ticket and/or breaking the law will be enough to keep most of them in the right lane. I think some people get off on making other people follow the law (drive the speed limit) and this may get their panties in a bunch.

It's always amusing to me that people expect the consideration of others staying out of the left lane but yet don't extend the consideration of following the speed limit.

I do, however, agree with you in that these things need not be legislated. Simply being considerate and safe with others should be on all of our shoulders.
