Does anyone on here have Boxee or Roku?

I have a friend who has Roku and really likes it. I recently saw Boxee online.

They both are intriguing and do not really know how to differentiate between the two. I like that Boxee has ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, etc. capabilities. It doesn't appear that Roku does, but you do have local networks available (so that would be ABC and NBC, right?).

It's basically a one-time fee and streams all kinds of things using wireless. Screw cable and dish companies. This looks like a solid investment of $50 or so.

If not Boxee or Roku, is there anything else that may be worthwhile?

The Roku is standalone device, the boxee appears to run through a computer.

If thats the case, then Roku is best

Untrue. They sell a standalone product called the Boxee box: http://www.boxee.tv/buy) though you can do that if you want.

What's nice about Boxee is that not only can you stream the standard Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, etc but also stream media from your PC (movies, music, etc) which I think makes it a better choice.

Still trying to decide if I should get something like this for streaming or build an HTPC when I get back home. I want to get rid of cable all together to save the $80 a month I'm wasting on cable. I just want to be able to stream and to stream movies/tv shows I download.

Have a Roku (one of the original models) and we love it, use it daily for Netflix/hulu in the family room.

We use PS3 in the basement for streaming.
