Yup exactly. I think they could have done better than Maryland for the dc market though. Virginia tech would have been a better option

I don't think I could handle the VT hype every year in the Big Ten.

Are they classified as the local market for D.C.?Crimson streak;1322787 wrote:Yup exactly. I think they could have done better than Maryland for the dc market though. Virginia tech would have been a better option

I would assume so Virginia is so I figured va tech would be too. And I think va tech extends even down in North Carolina a little bit

Pretty much. Seems like most of my office went to VT or are VT fans.LJ;1322790 wrote:Are they classified as the local market for D.C.?
I'm not a huge fan of the move as I like where the B1G is right now.
But, I could see the rational for MD.
Also, there is a HUGE B1G alumni base in DC. Penn St. and OSU have some of the largest alumni associations here in the country.
And Michigan has a large one here too.

You could say the same thing about places in Dayton with OSU grads, but they are Cincy marketptown_trojans_1;1322795 wrote:Pretty much. Seems like most of my office went to VT or are VT fans.

Just read an article about va tech and they are considered the dc market.

I read the same comments. They are dominating ratings, but are they CLASSIFIED as the D.C. market? That is where the money comes from with the subscribers. The BTN doesn't care about viewers, they care about how many people they get to charge subscriber fees for, for being in the "home market". Even if people in D.C. wanna watch VT, that doesn't mean they have to be classified as being "home market" being 270 miles away. UMD on the other hand, you HAVE to classify D.C., Arlington and Baltimore as being home markets.Crimson streak;1322797 wrote:Just read an article about va tech and they are considered the dc market.

Love the move ... would love to rent a car and drive 90 minutes down to New Brunswick to catch OSU putting a whipping on the Scarlet Knights. Pumped if this happens!

Who's gonna go undefeated anymore in the days of super conferences? Seriously so many good opponents in your conference. I made a ton of super conferences in NCAA Football 13(I know it's a video game) but I have years where there are no one loss teams even except for me of course

I like Rutgers more than Maryland. Though, I am intrigued by the fact of getting "The Oregon of the East" with Maryland and Under Armour.

Rutgers is a good addition. From both a competitive and financial perspective. Tradition as well.

Ohio State to play Rutgers in Yankee Stadium. It's not known what you year or if Rutgers will be a conference game then....

This is Ohio State and Rutgers. Huge difference. There are a ton of RU alumni in NYC. And Ohio State has a top 2 fanbase in NYC, could be #1 I'm not sure the exact numbers.

What I was talking about was the field size. Thought I remember them having problems.

I went to Rutgers/Army at Yankee Stadium last year and thought it was pretty cool, and I remember thinking the stadium was pretty cool for a football game. I think it would be a relatively big event in NYC if it was RU/OSU.Pick6;1323433 wrote:What I was talking about was the field size. Thought I remember them having problems.

Which is why Rutgers would be a good addition to a conference. They don't dominate New York by any means, but it will at least get you football games in NYC, which is what brings the $$$.Pick6;1323482 wrote:I agree, it would be a cool event.
