Derp, they should have considered SMAC; Slightly better than the Mid American Conference.

Since they changed names, does the auto bid go away?

This has created an additional conference right? Now adds another automatic bid to the NCAA tournament then?

Pretty sure it does not. Change in name only. But they should not have one, very weak conference, only a few teams there that would be ranked in the 15-25 range during a season.

For basketball, it adds an auto bid

For football, since the new Big East won't have football, the auto BCS bid is supposed to be sticking with the AAC for this last year of the BCS, and then it will go away for the playoff as planned before.

That's ridiculous. 14 (the number of teams in the B1G) > 12 (the number of teams in the proposed Bigger 10)

Lol, Why would a source from WVU know anything about the new name of the conference? They were out of the conference long before the Big East decided to rename. Either Webfire is joking or the WVU sources are full of Shit. Bigger ten was never brought up.

That's what I had read, that a WVU blogger and "several" other WVU sources claimed it was true. I don't have links, so it could be bogus.

No divisions, just 20 teams chillin out. Then a 5 game schedule, followed by a 16 team tournament over 4 weeks to determine the winner

That or we play 12 conference games

LEADERS AND LEGENDS CONFINED TO THE ASH HEAP OF HISTORY. Amid the nationwide intrigue regarding the conclusion of the manhunt in Boston, Massachusetts, the Big Ten quietly announced that its expected divisional alignment will see the end of the failed Legends/Leaders experiment. The Big Ten will realign its divisions and drop Legends/Leaders, going with a simpler East/West label instead.

Interesting that you picked 5 losses as the cutoff. You know, since Bo Pelini has lost 4 games every season at Nebraska. UNC has averaged 1 more loss per season over the last 5 years. I'd say they're pretty close to being on the same level. And those aren't even Nebraska's "down years" (that UNC has never achieved apparently).

We know the B1G would not want any SEC school outside of Vanderbilt and Florida.
The only school in the current footprint that makes sense would be Pitt.

that link I posted doesn't, but it appears to be rather immediate. Maryland is out, Louisville and ND are in and that pretty much ends realignment for the ACC at least until 2026-2027.

You don't think adding Maryland and Rutgers moves them out of mediocrity?

They're the only school in the south that probably could make sense academically.

Well, yes, but Florida would probably be the most coveted of any school by far.

I mean, they aren't going anywhere though.
