I loved Midnight in Paris. But I'm a huge classic literature fan, and Hemingway's my favorite author, so it played a big role in it.

Midnight in Paris is the only one ice seen. And personally I'd put 50/50 ahead of it.

Meryl Streep is a lock, IMO.
Meryl Streep probably deserves to win it every year. I'm going with Rooney Mara or Glen Close.

I don't believe this to be a 'weak field'....that said I was surprised to see Midnight in Paris in the field. It was a very good movie, but I would never have thought it to be Oscar nominee material. This could be the year where the awards get spread out rather than one picture sweeping most of everything.

I like War Horse, The Help, Hugo....Shit, I like a lot of them!

There are 9 movies nominated and only 4 of them were playing anywhere near my house. (Help, War Horse, Moneyball, and Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close) With that being said I can't imagine from the previews that Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is Oscar worthy. Hanks' last 2 flicks including this one haven't even looked interesting. I'm not saying they aren't "good movies" but I'm not interested and I like his work generally.

Finally saw The Artist this weekend and was pleasantly surprised. Lighthearted, for the most part, although somewhat abrupt. I enjoyed it .. not positive it should win best picture, but enjoyed it nonetheless
