Mayorga, who held welterweight and super welterweight world titles as a boxer, suggested that MMA fighting is not much different than fighting in the streets. And he said he’s not all that concerned about meeting Thomas, an Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran who holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

“I’m going to take that black belt and wipe my feet with it after I knock him out,” Mayorga said of Thomas. “The striking in boxing and in MMA are hugely different. MMA is more geared toward a street fight and I’ve been fighting in the streets of Nicaragua for years.”
Yeah, ok
I don't get that. For the most part MMA people are positive when they talk about boxing as a martial art. They are respectful. Boxing just shits all over MMA.

Because when people feel threatened they respond negatively. Burger King will take a shot at McDonalds because McD's is the king. The arches won't respond because they are on top.

Burger King is usually pretty chill in regards to McDonald's. Hell they have commercials about how they copied their breakfast offerings but explaining that it's a dollar so who really cares if it's original or not.

Overeem looked pretty good. He said that Fedor turned down fighting him. Does anyone know why? I don't remember hearing about it.

I can't believe, well yes I can, Don King gets the Shine Fights shut down. No Mayorga/Thomas. Only in America!

Can someone find me a video of Dave Herman-Sokoju from Friday's fight in Abu Dhabi? Herman got DQ'ed on illegal knees.

Overeem was definitely on roids when he was fighting in Japan. However, being a title fight here in the states I'm sure he had to be tested the other night?

That was one of the rumors as to why he hasn't fought in the states in so long, to get it "out" of his system.

There were some good fights on Saturday nights Strikeforce event.

As an Arlovski fan he disappointed me once again.

Overeem looked dang good.

Just watch Overeem dismantle Rogers. Hopefully Strikeforce could put together Overeem vs Fedor after Fedor fights Werdum. Overeem is a good fighter but I honestly believe he avoided fighting in the US for a long time because of roids/performance enhancers.
