Sometimes fights are boring, because guys neutralize eachother. No different than any other sport though, hell 95% of footballs game I watch are slow paced and boring as hell with little drama or action.

Just use the Dana White logic:
Card is stacked with big names - "You have to watch it, look at all the stars on this card!"
Card has few big names like Saturday - "How dare you judge a card before it happens, you never know when a great night could happen."

I agree - but with fighting it's not like there is a home team to get behind. To me, these are just two guys who I don't really care about. Barao is a great fighter, but i don't like him enough to pay for his fights, and TJ has about as much personality as an eggplant. Neither does anything to get me interested in a fight, they're both great, but nothing $60 great. With fighting i feel like you need to be entertaining in and out of the cage. It's why guys like Cowboy and McGregor are fun, they're great personalities and fun to watch fight.robj55;1648761 wrote:Sometimes fights are boring, because guys neutralize eachother. Do you expect a promoter to tell you anything different? haZoltan;1648772 wrote:Just use the Dana White logic:

I agree that neither should be headlining a ppv, but both are world class talents. Renan Barao has lost once in like 10 years, and is a dynamic fighter with incredible finishing ability and an attacking style. If you aren't invested in the fight I suggest you pick a guy and root for him, makes it at least more interesting. I don't care what guys say outside of the cage, this isn't pro wrestling. That obviously adds a dynamic but at the end of the day if you can fight you can fight. Chael Sonner was a boring fighter but he had a pro wrestling gimmick that worked for him, for others that wouldn't work because it would seem even more phony.Raw Dawgin' it;1648778 wrote:I agree - but with fighting it's not like there is a home team to get behind. Wow Barao passed out cutting weight and is out of the title fight. Newcomer Joe Soto no faces TJ Dillashaw for the belt. What a disaster. Karma for the UFC for putting on a card like this?

I do have to agree that a card like this usually turns out to be one of the most exciting cards of the year but I wouldn't waste $60 on this card

Former Olympic Gold Medalist Henry Cejudo also off the card, the 4th fight he has pulled out of in the last 9 months.

Ben Askren deserves to be in the UFC, he quickly dispatched the One FC champ today. He got railroaded by Bellator and the UFC for being "boring"! Sorry wrestling is part of fighting and he's the best in the world at it but lately he has been TKO'ing guys!

He definitely deserves to be in the UFC, he would definitely be a top 10 guy.Fab1b;1648853 wrote:Ben Askren deserves to be in the UFC, he quickly dispatched the One FC champ today. Barao should have to work his way back into title contention by winning a tough fight or two. Can't reward the guy with another immediate rematch after he fucks an already fucked card by messing up his cut.

Dana said he has to take another fight. Also said he would like him to move up a weight class.HelloAgain;1648857 wrote:Barao should have to work his way back into title contention by winning a tough fight or two. Dillashaw ko'ed Soto with a head kick in the 5th.

Head kick dropped him but didn't finish him. Ground and pound until the ref stopped it

I'm a pretty big MMA fan/participant, and it's tough to disagree with any of this: http://deadspin.com/ufc-runs-disastrous-embarrassing-card-blames-fighters-1629031492

I think in some ways, the UFC is hurt by essentially having a pro wrestling promoter (in style) being the mouthpiece of the company. Not just with how he can be a complete loose cannon at times, but with how he's always putting this focus on "You have to be exciting!!!!". It's hard to proclaim yourself as legitimate sport when you're basically saying that if someone can't fight in a crowd-pleasing way, you don't like them or want them around.Fab1b;1648853 wrote:Ben Askren deserves to be in the UFC, he quickly dispatched the One FC champ today. Deadspin has always been anti UFC and tbh most mma media is a joke and negative about everything.HelloAgain;1649385 wrote:I'm a pretty big MMA fan/participant, and it's tough to disagree with any of this: http://deadspin.com/ufc-runs-disastrous-embarrassing-card-blames-fighters-1629031492

I'm not saying it's inaccurate, just saying that they are anti-UFC. You won't see them putting out any articles when the UFC does an awesome event and kills it, at least I don't see it. They are like haters lying in the weeds. MMA media is full of know it all pessimists, I follow quite a few of them on twitter and it's just laughable. They sound like the biggest spoiled cry babies it's terrible.HelloAgain;1649426 wrote:Which part would you say was inaccurate?

If their points are valid, I wouldn't call that being anti-UFC. I'd say it's indicative that the facts aren't on the UFC's side.robj55;1649435 wrote:I'm not saying it's inaccurate, just saying that they are anti-UFC.

They have a history of it, a long one. They also have no proof that fighters are underpaid.HelloAgain;1649472 wrote:If their points are valid, I wouldn't call that being anti-UFC. I'd say it's indicative that the facts aren't on the UFC's side.
