One of the best fights I've ever seen, props to both Jon and Gus, how was he still standing after those head kicks? Gus pushed him and gave as much as he took and even took Jon down, they have to have a rematch man, fucking incredible!

That fight was one of the best fights in recent memory. I'm not sure how either man was able to stand after some of those shots.

I gave Jon rounds 2, 4 and 5. Gus blew me away though. I think Jon was too intent on showing he could stand with Gus but man we got a fight of the decade candidate!

I thought Gustafsson did enough to win. I would guess the rematch won't look anything like this. It will end much sooner but not sure who will win.

On a side note I feel like shit. I accidentally told a few buddies the outcome. I thought I was the only person who paused pay per views! Ha

I had Gus winning the fight, not a robbery but I think it was a bad decision.

Which rounds did you give him?

I had 1,2,3 for Gus. Rounds 2 and 3 were very close though.

That's why I said not a robbery, I can see someone thinking one of those rounds were Jones'. But I think the judge that gave 4 rounds to Jones is a crack addict, probably Cecil Peoples.

Yeah I gave rounds 2,4 and 5 to Jones. Was surprised that Jon actually landed more significant strikes in every round per fightmetric.

Did you check before or after they changed it?

Edit: I was dumb and was thinking of UFC's stats.

This was near highway travesty.
I watched that fight and I had...

Rd 1 = toss-up
Rd 2 = Gusto (no question)
Rd 3 = Gusto (no question)
Rd 4 = Gusto
Rd 5 = Jones (no question)

And this is even coming from a guy who LIKES Jones. Even if you give Rd 1 to Jones (and he won Rd 5), that's STILL 3-2 Gusto.

The fact that one of the judges even had the fight at Jone 49-46 is down right AWFUL.

I feel for Gusto... I think he won the fight... I know the adage is "to be the champion, you have to beat the Champion", but I truly thought Gusto beat the Champion.

Now see, I had it this way...

1-Gusto for sure
2-toss up, maybe Gus
3-toss up, maybe Jones
4-definitely Jones
5-definitely Jones

I believe all of the judges gave Gus rd 1, they all gave Jones rds 4 and 5. The rounds 2 and 3 are the ones that were different on each of the 3 cards.

For whatever it's worth, Fightmetric had it the exact same way...

http://blog.fightmetric.com/2013/09/jones-vs-gustafsson-official-ufc.html

They had the first 2 rounds Gus, the last 3 rounds Jones.

I don't see how you can give Gus the 4th round, he was winning it until the last minute then he got rocked and suffered a huge barrage of shots which clearly sealed the round for Jone. I think Jon definitely won the last 2 rounds.

EXACTLY! You said it yourself... "Gus was winning it until the last minute." I'm sorry... but winning 4 minutes of the Rd prevails winning the last minute of the Rd, no matter how big of a beat-down Jones was dueling out.

Jones definitely won Rd 5 (no question), but I think Gusto won Rd 4, and I had Gusto EASILY winning Rds 2 & 3.

So, in a real fight between you and I, if you pepper me with some jabs for 4 minutes and then for 1 whole minute I beat the hell out of you, you won?

That makes no sense, this is a fight, most of the decision for a round should be most damage.

Also, fightmetric had Jones landing more strikes in round 4, so more strikes, harder strikes, almost finished the fight in round 4...I honestly don't see how you could give Gus round 4.

Look at the Fightmetric,

http://blog.fightmetric.com/2013/09/jones-vs-gustafsson-official-ufc.html

It had the same as I did (but I said rounds 2 and 3 could be swapped).

I find it interesting that the only round that Jones didn't land more significant strikes was round 5 (they tied) and that is the round you said was obviously Jones.

I didn't think those were "jabs". They looked like legit, significant strikes [to me].

It sure looked to me that Gusto landed waaaaay more strikes than Jones did. Idk... maybe I'll have to go back and watch it again?

Also... what about all the take-down attempts that Jones attempted and were stuffed by Gusto?

Listening to the announcers, especially Rogan (I know, I know... this is a 'weak' argument, but still), they both seemed to think that Jones was behind on the card too.

Look at their faces (pre last minute of the 4th Rd). Jones had a NASTY face and, until the last min of Rd 4, Gusto was relatively "clean" (or at least so I remember).

Gusto, IMO, didn't start taking MAJOR damage until the last minute of Rd 4 when Jones nearly had him knocked out. All this "scoring" stuff after the fact seems so "manufactured" to me. I understand they can go back and "clean things up a bit", but I don't see how the "metrics" change THAT MUCH. I mean, look at "Live & unofficial" numbers... Gusto is KILLING Jones.

But then, you look at the "Update" rankings, someone Gusto LOSES 75+ strikes, and Jones GAINS almost 20?!?! Seems pretty manufactured to me [i.e., to attempt to justify the judges ruling].

As I said... I obviously have to watch the fight again, but it sure looked to me like Gusto won that fight. He certainly didn't lose it 49-46 like one of the judges officially scored it. THAT's the travesty, if there is one.

I agree with that logic, Jones nearly finished the fight that round.

That cut occurred in round 1 and was a grazing shot, hardly indicative of the damage dealt out in the fight. Jon did a ton of damage to the legs and body as well which doesn't show as well as the face.

Hopefully the next person who fights Jones starts checking low kicks properly with their shin and knee. Jones' foot will be broke pretty quickly which would make for an interesting fight.

Any confirmation that he broke his foot in this fight early on? I only heard a rumor of it.
