Nate really didn't look himself last night, he was very hesitant on the feet and maybe the eye injury had something to do with it. Props to Ben Henderson though he was very impressive and it was a great performance.

He was hesitant because he was totally outclassed by a superior athlete. Benson's leg kicks hurt him, his punching him in the face on the feet hurt him, and his beating him on the ground hurt him too. Really good performance by Benson. His cardio is maybe the best in MMA.robj55;1339185 wrote:Nate really didn't look himself last night, he was very hesitant on the feet and maybe the eye injury had something to do with it. I didn't like to see Rory toying with BJ like that and trying to humiliate him and prolong the beating. I think Rory has some resentment inside him for being overshadowed by GSP. I would LOVE to see him turn into an angry villain type character who wants to take GSP out. Not going to happen, but man would it be awesome if they had a falling out like Jones/Evans.

0-4...of course I can't poke fun because I didn't list who I thought would win.End of Line;1338350 wrote:Rousey/Carmouche is going to flop on PPV buys. As for tomorrow night;
Diaz
Shogun
Penn
Swick
Man, did Diaz get the crap kicked out of him.

Gustafson just beat the crap out of the last LWH champ before Bones.bigdaddy2003;1338710 wrote:I didn't care for Rory shuffling in the octagon like he was Ali. I also don't think Gustafson earned himself a title shot.

I think he was hesitant because he couldn't see, and got dropped a couple times because of it. The leg kicks were effective but Ben was just too big and strong last night. Nate should have went for the knee bar but he said he didn't want to exhaust himself with only one eye and not be able to protect himself. Impressive performance by Benson.Zoltan;1339320 wrote:He was hesitant because he was totally outclassed by a superior athlete. That fight was a lot closer than most are making it seem. Gus won but that was no domination by any means imo.jmog;1339322 wrote:Gustafson just beat the crap out of the last LWH champ before Bones.

I didn't say it was domination, but its hard to dominate one of the best fighters of all time. Beating one of the best fighters of all time (and a very recent champ) should be enough to validate a title shot.robj55;1339329 wrote:That fight was a lot closer than most are making it seem. It was close, but it was no doubt that Gus won so that should be enough for a title shot.
You typically don't dominate the best fighters of all time.

I guess I just wasn't impressed by his performance. I guess he's earned a title shot but I can't see him having much of a chnce against Bones.jmog;1339322 wrote:Gustafson just beat the crap out of the last LWH champ before Bones.

I don't understand why Shogun doesn't come in and fight calculated and measured like he did in his two fights with Machida, he is basically a technical brawler now and the wear is starting to show. 2 years ago he would have knocked out Gus imo, now he is 31 going on 45. Still love him though.jmog;1339333 wrote:I didn't say it was domination, but its hard to dominate one of the best fighters of all time. Dana said that if Hendo isn't ready to go that Gus could fight Machida I guess.

Dana said that he keeps hearing that Dan isn't healthy and that if he isn't they may go in another direction.

Dan tweeted he was doing great. If he screws Hendo over again I'd be pissed.

One Diaz brother down in a title fight, one to go. At least this one DESERVED his title shot, unlike older brother lol.

I like watching them fight, but I totally agree that Nick doesn't deserve it. It makes it less sport and more entertainment having him and Sonnen get title shots. I expect both to lose, but still.Hb31187;1339846 wrote:One Diaz brother down in a title fight, one to go. At least this one DESERVED his title shot, unlike older brother lol.

Yeah i totally get why Chael and Nick get the fights, but its just politics and unfair to the other fighters really. Just because Lakers and Celtics in the finals will make more money doesn't mean if the Lakers make it and the Celtics lose to the Heat you make the match up anyways. Honestly, the more i think about the Chael/Jones fight the less I want to watch it ha.Hb31187;1339880 wrote:Yeah i totally get why Chael and Nick get the fights, but its just politics and unfair to the other fighters really. I kinda feel like Dana still holds a grudge over Dan from a few years back when they were negotiating a deal and Hendo went to Strikeforce.Raw Dawgin' it;1339800 wrote:Dan tweeted he was doing great. If he screws Hendo over again I'd be pissed.

The UFC is a business, they are going to put on the fights that sell. Yes they have the FOX deal but they are still PPV king and it is all about PPV. As far as Nick not deserving the fight, a lot of people thought he won rounds 1,2 and 5 against Condit. Not getting into that but GSP was the one who ASKED for Nick, he wants to fight him and Dana said he felt obliged to give GSP the fight because he has never asked for anything and been such a good employee. Nothing is official yet so IDK why people are getting all pissy about it. Hendricks has been promised a shot so he isn't getting screwed over. Nate has to hope that someone like Pettis can beat Bendo again and work his way back up winning 3 or 4 in a row, still a top 5 LW and a nightmare fight for almost anyone.

The Chael situation is way different imo, he is coming off a tko loss and is coming from an entirely different division, he hasn't even fought at 205 in like 8 years so no history there.

Not pissy persay about it, just that politics are messy and not really fair to other fighters at times. Itd be like the Colts reaching the SB and the Redskins losing in the NFC championship game to lets say the Falcons and the NFL saying " Well, Atlanta even though you won your last fight and earned your right to be in the Superbowl, RGIII vs Luck would be a much better selling point for us, so we're gonna let them advance even though they lost". Also helps that I despise the diaz brothers lol

That's a hard comparison, the NFL is a network tv model and the UFC is a PPV model. If you dislike them then surely you want to see GSP give Nick and ass whoopin like most do! lolHb31187;1339957 wrote:Not pissy persay about it, just that politics are messy and not really fair to other fighters at times.
