I'm was really surprised that Stevenson got beat. George Sotiropoulos could be a future loser to BJ Penn.

Is Silva going to be staying around at Middleweight now? He has no hope at beating any of the big names in the L.Hvy division.

how could bisping think he won. He didnt do any damage. Bisping has lost to every person he has fought who is good. Silva is the same Silva as he is before but did look better at his new weight class. Cain looked awesome. Bader beat his first true oppenent and seems to be ready for more. Cro Cop beat some guy from off the streets. Joe Daddy got dominated. I missed the prefights who won the Bonner fight?

By the way my pet peeve last night was them saying Bisping kept getting takedowns. I define a takedown as putting ur oppenent on the mat and having control. At one point they kept saying Bisping took Sila down atleast 5 times when what in fact happened was Bisping attempted a takedown and they both went to the mat and silva almost choked him out. in what way is that a takedown if you never have any control.

^^^^^Bonnar lost via doctor stoppage.

Bisping is a feather fisted toolbag who thinks he's much much better than he is. He can't beat any top ten middleweight IMO.

There is a big focus on takedowns in the scoring system in MMA, I'm also a firm believer that they should be followed by some sort of damage or control in order to score points. If you take someone down and they get right back up, why should that be considered more meaningful than a simple landed punch?

The most recent example i can think of is Rashad Evans vs. Thiago Silva. Evans won that fight solely on takedowns. Thats all he did. Didn't win any exchanges, never kept Silva down for more than 20 secs, never even landed a GNP punch that i can remember, gets rocked in the 3rd round, almost knocked out, yet he wins a unanimous decision.

This is not wrestling, its MMA, and i think there needs to be more focus on octagon CONTROL, than just takedowns, b/c if you can't control someone after a takedown then what good did it really do?

www.lowkick.com type the names of the fighters into the search field

speaking of lowkick.com here is the article about Frank Mir running off at the mouth about Lesnar:

Anyone else hear of the article where Frank Mir says he wants to kill Brock Lesnar?

Says he wants Lesnar to be the first person to die in a UFC and he will break his neck.

I have been impressed with Sotiropolous (sp?) since his days on TUF.

I really believe he's the only guy in the UFC at LW that can hang with BJPenn on the ground.

Unfortunately for him, he can't hang with BJ standing, and won't be able to take BJ down.

If, and I do mean if, his standup gets lightyears better, he could contend, but if not BJ will just beat the snot out of him standing up and not let the fight go to the ground.

Sotiropolous is very good still not close to penn though. I always thought he would win his season of TUF but he got beat by the one physical freak farmer tommy. Has anyone heard or seen what happen to Tommy. I used to remember thinking that with real training he could be amazing.

The problem with Sotiropolous on the show vs Tommy Speer was that Speer had to cut a ton of weight to fight at 170 on the show while Sotiropolous is a natural 155er and fighting "up" just to be on the show.

I bet by fight time Speer weight at least 15-20 lbs heavier than Sotiropolous.

I'm not a big fan of either Mir or Lesnar. Mir talks about himself like he's a sure-fire hall-of-famer and UFC legend. I never had a problem with Lesnar until I watched him flip off the fans at UFC 100. That didn't sit well with me.

I definitely thought George was going to be the champion on his season of TUF. Him vs. Mac Danzig would definitely have been a better finale than Speer v. Danzig.

I like Brock, I wasn't happy after his antics after smashing Mir in their second fight but that was I think the WWE in him still and some sure hostility towards those who doubted him and his abilities. I think he has since calmed himself.

I like Brock as well. Lesnar is just matter of fact, he's a straight shooter who doesn't bullshit you when he speaks. He's a simple guy. He doesn't throw the first stone, and he never really said much about Mir leading up to the fight and so after he kicked his ass, he got amped up and told him about it b/c in Lesnar's book you shouldn't open your mouth if you can't back it up, when in Mir's world he can talk himself into believing he has a chance to "snap Brock's neck".

Charles Blanchard I know personally as he wrestled for Sandalwood HS in Jacksonville, FL. Was a state runner up wrestler his senior year. I just got off the phone with his high school coach who now refs with me.

Fedor will not fight on Strikeforce's CBS April 17th Card. Henderson vs Shields will headline but the fight I am hoping for on this card is Gegard Mousasi (28-2-1) defending against Mohammed “King Mo” Lawal (6-0). Mo is an established wrestler who has made a wonderful transition to MMA.

Four free events along with the free prelim fights for the PPV. March is going to be a good month...especially if I'm home from the state wrestling meet in time for the WEC card.

Alistair Overeem confirms May 15 Strikeforce fight with Brett Rogers and says some interesting things about Fedor as well:
http://mmajunkie.com/news/18133/champ-alistair-overeem-confirms-may-15-strikeforce-fight-with-brett-rogers.mma
The chance of a long-rumored fight with Fedor Emelianenko appears to be a longshot. Emelianenko will not appear on Strikeforce's second CBS-televised event, which is set for April 17 in Nashville, Tenn., and he is currently in a contract dispute with the San Jose, Calif.-based promotion. He is rumored to be fighting on the May 15 card against an unnamed opponent.

While Overeem counts the top-ranked Russian among his targets stateside, there is too much red tape between them.

"Fedor doesn't want to fight," Overeem said. "His manager doesn't want to fight. That's basically the message I'm getting out of all of this. The management said, 'Yeah, we want to fight Alistair, but first, Alistair must fight somebody else.' Basically, you need two parties to agree on a fight. Otherwise it's not going to happen.

"And now, I don't know what is going to happen because I think [Fedor] might want to leave Strikeforce. I'm not really occupied with the situation; I'm just focused on myself and my training."

Overeem was more than happy, though, to take on Rogers, who has called him out on several occasions and demanded he defend his title or give up the belt.
