After the beating Randy gave him...it is time. Mark looked his age, Randy looked a decade younger.

Dang, that's pretty nasty.

No idea who is up next for Silva. Would have thought Marquardt before his recent loss. Now I would imagine this opens the door for somebody like Sonnen or Demian Maia to slip in for a title fight they're probably not ready for. Once again I'm left wishing the UFC and Hendo had come to an agreement.

Well Sonnen has run his mouth about Silva and Belfort I would have guessed he was going to get the next shot but he cannot fight here due to medical suspension from the Marquardt fight. Not sure what is going to happen now and next for Silva.

True. I just don't know who else is out there for them to throw at Anderson. I have a bad feeling we're going to end up with him in another fight with a completely overmatched and unprepared fighter (a la Patrick Cote and Thales Leites) who is afraid to really engage and push Anderson. I wouldn't be totally surprised to see this bout changed to a LHW bout instead, especially if Dana and Joe Silva feel nobody is ready for Anderson at 185. The injuries/illnesses are really hurting the UFC. The quality of their PPVs has been way down of late.

Someone suggested Anderson Silva vs. Randy Couture at that card but Couture usually takes 4-5 months off in between fights.

I agree they have been down as of late, but this next one coming up next Saturday looks really good on paper.

Big Nog vs. Valasquez
Wandy vs. Bisping
Joe Daddy vs. Sotiropoulos
Jardine vs. Bader
CroCop vs. Rothwell

I'm really lookin forward to the Jardine vs Bader fight. I like Bader, seems like a cool guy who keeps his mouth shut and goes to work.

I just want to see Bisping get KO for 8 minutes again. I am also looking forward to the Valasquez fight. If he can win this means he is a serious title contender. I think the next few PPVs all have some pretty good cards worth watching. The last 3 or 4 have been bad cards but, now that the UFC is getting people healthy and back from the movie sets the cards are really starting to pick up. In the next few cards we get silva vs belfort, rampage vs rashad, Mir vs Carwin, Machida vs Shogun 2, we also get to see st pierre and Bj penn fights in that time. As well as a couple decent free showings like Vera vs Jones and Gomi vs Florian. Now a bad few months ahead if you ask me.

Anderson Silva will fight Demian Maia at UFC112 in place of Belfort, who is out for 8 months.

It seems to me like Maia is another one-dimensional fighter who will get completely exposed by Anderson in the stand-up game. While Anderson's BJJ may not be at the level of Maia, it is reportedly pretty good. The reason I say reportedly is simply because we don't see him use it much. I don't know how Maia will be able to stand up to Anderson's striking assault. When Anderson eventually loses his title (if he doesn't retire on top) it won't be to someone this one dimensional.

^^^^i couldn't agree more. This is going to be another 1:30 long knockout mismatch. I don't like this matchup at all.

Either that or its going to be 5 rounds of boring, slow-paced fighting with few significant exchanges (IE Anderson's fight with Leites). Its a shame that 3/5 divisions have zero drama right now. The champions in all 3 of the smaller divisions look unbeatable at their current weights.

Ohio Athletic Commission turns down bout between Wes Sims and Tim Sylvia: http://mmajunkie.com/news/17969/ohio-commission-turns-down-wes-sims-vs-tim-sylva-at-adrenaline-mma-iv.mma
"The commission felt the fight was not going to be competitive at this time after comparing [Sims' and Sylvia's] records and the opponents both fighters had faced," Profato stated in an email response. "And even though it was 2004, Sylvia previously stopped Sims at 1:36 of the first round."

I just find it funny that we have awful organizations that try to protect fighters from themselves by saying they aren't allowed to fight. What right does government have to tell them they can't fight?

Each state's athletic commissions are different, I am sure they could get approved in other states. They don't want the liability, especially with a guy like Sims who clearly is past his days. Look at his last two fights, TUF and Lashley. He needs to find another job!!

because fighting when it's not sanctioned as an athletic competition is just called "assault."
