Machida doesn't deserve it. He just fucking lost to Jones.

Honestly I was more impressed with Varner in the loss. Took the fight on short notice and took it to Lauzon I know its a loss but that shouldnt knock Varner down too far if at all.

How does he not deserve it? He's by far the guy with the best shot at Jones in the division and he looked disgustingly good tonight.

He lost to him in his last fight. Rashad did better against Jones than Machida did and he's far from another shot. With how Bader fought, anyone could have KO'd him.

No, they couldn't have. Machida used perfect footwork and movement to make Bader look terrible. He isn't.

Machida did better than Rashad despite loosing by submission. Machida was at least competitive and won the first round. Rashad at no point looked like he was even remotely winning through five rounds. Not one time.

Who do you think should get the fight? Shogun? Even he said he didn't put on a good performance (though he did, just not as good as we've come to expect from him).

We'll have to disagree here. Varner looked excellent which is why Lauzon methodically picking him apart and then getting the submission is so impressive to me.

Best card I've seen in a long time, fucking incredible! All 4 main card fights were incredible. I was really impressed with Vera, he brought it. Shogun's cardio was shit again, he may be the oldest 30 year old in the world. He has been in so many wars and they may be catching up with him. Lyoto Machida was incredible, he was toying with Bader. Bader had no choice but to stand with him and he was picking him apart. As soon as Bader made a mistake and got impatient Lyoto ended the fight with a beautiful counter punch where he blocked Bader's right hand simultaneously. Jaw dropping.

Great card even the prelims on Fuel had great fights.

On the main card I was most impressed by the transition sub by Lauzon, Machida was flawless, and...

I can't stand Vera and am a Shogun fan. I was actually much more impressed by Vera than Shogun throughout the fight. I even had Vera winning 2 of the first 3 rounds.

Also, props to Lyoto for not continuing to hit Bader and pulling back once he realized he was done, classy.

The Swick KO was great, Dean was a little late stopping him though. If Varner didn't get caught i think he would've won but Lauzon has a nasty ground. Not surprised that Lyoto won and if i never see Shogun fight again it wouldn't bother me. He's completely overrated in my book.

I agree, I have been watching MMA for a LONG time and get every PPV, watch the Showtime events, watch Bellator, etc and I don't think I have ever seen a KO on the way down like that.

I've of course seen slam KOs on TDs but never by a punch on the way down. It was almost like Hendo vs Bisping but the flying punch was the KO not the exclamation point after the KO.

Shogun is strange to me. One fight he'll look unbelievable (both Machida fights) then he goes and looks like this or even worse his fight against Forrest (first one). He is so 'up and down'.

Shogun isn't old - but like Rob said, his body has been through the gauntlet. I'd rather see Rua in cool fights, like against Rampage, Hendro rematch, etc, than against top guys fighting for the belt.

Also - Rua is pudgy, does anyone think he'd ever consider a cut to 185 or could he not handle it? He gasses enough as is so i'd assume he'd be done pretty fast w/ a weight cut.

He can't cut to 185. Look at his legs, they're huge.

As for Vera, he was impressive because he showed heart and was competitive against a top tier guy. But in no way did he win any of those rounds. He survived and had Shogun been in better shape he probably would have finished it quicker. Just look at the FightMetric. Every round Shogun has the significant strike and total strike advantage as well as takedowns save for round 3 where he only had the total strike advantage but also had a takedown.

He's a thick guy, just look at his legs.

Probably true - I'm tired of seeing him fight guys like coleman, liddell, griffin, rua. He's only fought 2 contenders in the UFC. I'm tired of hearing how awesome he is when he has 1 win over a top guy. Hell, for 2 of his wins he needed rematches to beat them. Just not a shogun fan i guess.

For one of them he needed a rematch. The first Machida fight was the definition of a robbery.

And other than Coleman everyone he's fought has been a top guy.

glass jawed chuck, forrest, and vera are top guys? Also, he fought forrest twice since he choked the first time.

coleman never was, Liddell was 1-3 in his last 4 when he lost to Rua, Forrest (the second time, you thought he was a top guy?) and Vera. C'mon, dude has had a cake walk to the belt.

Have him fight Rashad and see how he does.
