Kos was boring early in his career but he has really improved all around and is truly an mma fighter

I guess I just still hate him for the Daley fight and have a biased memory lol. That was horrible. Pretty big fight, I think the winner got a title shot, and he just laid on him for round after round, not landing any punches

I can't stand Kos, but if that is the big complaint then Daley needs either better TD defense or he needs to learn to get off his back, or needs to learn amazing submissions off his back.

Like it or not wrestling is part of MMA.

Yes it is. But if you aren't doing anything with it you should be stood back up. Just like how the bjj guard is a part of mma but if someone is on top and you just hold them tight in your guard so they can't land punches you will be stood up.

You have to do something with your position to keep it IMO.

I agree that wrestling is part of it, but go back and watch that fight if you can. He had Daley full mount, postured up and landed almost ZERO strikes. If your goal is to take someone down and lay on them not doing damage, thats not MMA thats stalling

IWP and HB, I agree with you guys 100%, that it should have been stood up a lot quicker in that fight, and any fight where the guys are just laying there.

However, what really gets me upset is some of the refs will let a fight like Kos/Daley lay on the ground forever and then have premature standups in fights where guys are landing punches or have moved to a dominant position. I watched a fight where it was stood up from side mount where the guy on top nearly had a mounted crucifix which leads to uncontested strikes.

What I am getting at is that while Kos was 100% boring in that fight against Daley and it should have been stood up, it can't be 100% on Kos. Daley should be good enough to either stop the TD, get up off his back, or be able to submit off your back.

If I am in a real fight and get put on my back, I can't sit in a tight guard and wait for the "ref" to stand us up, I have to be good enough to do one of the 3 things I just mentioned, period. A professional MMA fighter shouldn't be able to also sit in a tight guard staring at the ref until he gets a standup.

They don't allow that kind of stalling on the bottom in wrestling, why should they allow, and even reward with a standup, that type of stalling in MMA?

If a standup is called, it should be due to the guy on bottom working on something and the guy on top working on nothing. It should be a punishment for the guy on top, not a reward for stalling for the guy on bottom.

I mean the way it is handled now, if I get taken down I can underhook one arm, lock arms behind the head, and have a tight guard and then just wait for a standup. It should not be 100% on the guy on top to keep "working", the guy on bottom also needs to be working for a sweep, submission, or escape the whole time as well.

I thought about going to see it at the theater but it will be way too packed for my liking. So I am just going to order it.

I'd like to see what it looks like in 3D but with how my head is, 3D screws with my eyes really bad.

I saw on ufc.com that the UFC 144 main card is 8 fights not 5, that has to be a typo I would think.

Not gonna lie man, I'm nervous for this fight. Confident Nick will find a way to win but Condit is dangerous as hell.

Nick will get rocked no doubt, Condit isn't a slouch. But he will overwhelm him and his accuracy and body shots will wear him out.

Assuming one of these fighters remains undefeated against the other for the duration of GSP's absense, do you think the winner of this fight runs the table up until GSP's return and then possibly beyond that?

Hard to say, I think Nick would wait for GSP to return because that would be one of the biggest fights in MMA history(as GSP stated yesterday). I think Carlos might take a fight in the mean while. As far as running the table, that's almost impossible to do in MMA, especially with the way these guys fight. They aren't point fighters and 170 is loaded with talent.

I didn't mind Diaz outside of the octagon until recently. The thing with not wanting to do the promos and press conferences for the GSP fight like every other fighter does and then having the nerve to ask GSP where he was after beating Penn just rubbed me the wrong way. I do hope he beats Condit and fights GSP though.
