Don't like his antics in the ring and his arrogance annoys the shit out of me. Not a rashad fan but hoping he finds a way.Scarlet_Buckeye;1012499 wrote:What is with all the hate against "Bones" Jones? I really don't get it. The guy has done nothing but fight with class!

Because he's usually humble in the post fight press conferences and gives grace to god. The same reason people hate Tim Tebow.Scarlet_Buckeye;1012569 wrote:Again... what "antics in the ring" and "arrogance"??!?!
Bones had nothing but respect for Lyoto after the fight. People just want to hate the best.

Because I don't buy it. He seems fake, like he does it because he thinks that's what he's supposed to do. Can't prove it obviously but it seems so clear.hoops23;1012573 wrote:Because he's usually humble in the post fight press conferences and gives grace to god. The same reason people hate Tim Tebow.

Also, the judgement of his character is hilarious.
I've been a fan of Jones since the beginning, but I didn't become a fan of his because of his personality. I became a fan of his because of his fighting style and how exciting he was to watch inside of the octagon.
Maybe you guys choose your favorite fighters based on who'd you rather go on a date with, but I don't.

Here's what Overeem is facing: The test within 72 hours, a test when he lands in the U.S. for 141, and then two random tests after 141.

This is exactly what I thought, he said that he was dizzy from the elbow I don't think it was the blood and that he couldn't see anything from his right eye. I don't even think he saw the punch as he tried to throw a left hook. He also stated that because he couldn't see that he felt like he had to try and win the fight immediately which may explain why he stopped moving and elected to stand right in front on Jones which is not how Lyoto fights, he never has fought that way, uncharacteristic of him. No excuses, but interesting to say the least. Hopefully these two can fight again in about a year after Lyoto reels off 2 or 3 wins in a row.Raw Dawgin' it;1012289 wrote:I'm on the fence about elbows since more times than not they just cut someone open. Even though on the undercard there was an elbow KO i still think elbow strikes on the ground should be illegal.
If he couldn't see out of his right eye it makes sense now how jones connected so solidly with the left before he locked up the choke. I was so excited after the first round, Lyoto looked like he found his range and was real loose. On the flip side i hate how jones acts in the ring, reminds me of Sean Avery waving his stick in front Martin Brodour to distract him.
I think Evans punches harder than Machida, so maybe he can learn something from this fight and connect with a heavy shot of his own. If i were evans, assuming i beat davis, i'd want to train some with Machida.

I think most peoples problem with him is he seems too modest, and they take it as fake. Personally I think he is a great fighter and person, but he rubs people the wrong way. Also I think people hate on him because he has made it look so easy against everyone except Machida, people want to cheer for people who go through adversity and overcome struggle. Many people just view him as bigger, stronger and more athletic than everyone he fights, and they think it is unfair and want the underdog to beat him, that's the vibe I get from a lot of people.hoops23;1012720 wrote:Also, the judgement of his character is hilarious.

That's legit, that is definitely Greg Jackson's voice, but a lot of people I've seen have been complaining about the way Jones just dropped Machida after he was out cold. Could just be another reason to hate on the guy. I had no problem with it and Lyoto is my favorite fighter. He did as the referee instructed him to and let go.hoops23;1012713 wrote:You buying that vid?

That doesn't mean I can't not believe everything someone says. I get similar vibes from Jon Jones that I do from Lebron. It has nothing to do with them being great at their sports, which they are, either.

So what exactly do people have against Bones? Its not like hes overly cocky or comes off as a douchebag. What does he do to rub people the wrong way? For how much success hes had in such a short time, he seems very humble for a young young fighter

I see what you are saying but this is an individual sport, not a team to me that makes it very different. He only has to be loyal to himself! He will bring his rise and or fall, not his team, etc.....He only has to be himself!

It isn't that he seems like a bad person or isn't loyal to anyone. It just seems like he isn't being himself, that he's putting on an act and simply saying what he thinks should be said. From everything I've heard he's a good dude but I just get the vibe, and it's obviously not just me, that he isn't genuine.Fab1b;1013038 wrote:I see what you are saying but this is an individual sport, not a team to me that makes it very different. So Hb, what people have against him is he doesn't seem genuine.

Winning too much at an early age, making it look too easy outside of this recent fight, having huge reach and size/athleticism advantages. I think these are all things that factor in, along with the fact that people think he is too genuine and it comes off as fake to some people. I saw just show up and fight, people over analyze everything.I Wear Pants;1013159 wrote:I've not heard one person say they dislike Jones because he wins too much.

Of course nobody is going to say it. But if Jones wasn't winning, nobody would be saying shit about him, so obviously it has a lot to do with it.I Wear Pants;1013159 wrote:I've not heard one person say they dislike Jones because he wins too much.
Over analyzing somebody based on how genuine you think they are is a tad foolish, IMO.
Jones has done quite a few good deeds that I've seen. Things he hasn't had to do, yet did them anyway.
I think the guy is a good dude who is trying to be himself, but he's still getting used to all of this newfound success. People forget just how young and brief his career is, yet he's now being considered as the face of the UFC.
That's a lot to take in, especially in such a short time frame.
