Not that you're ever excused from a mistake of that degree...

But more than once in my life I've seen people grow too old and too tired, physically and mentally, to do what's right. How many times do we see the youngest kid in a large family be the "problem child"? Methinks this may be case - Joe KNEW this was wrong, but no longer had the will or energy to undertake something this difficult and ugly.

It's like the pilot flying the plane over the mountain every day - you might have a thousand successful flights to your credit, but if you pass over the 10,000' mountain at 9,999 feet on the day you planned to retire, you've still killed a planeload of people.

Lol your an idiot. If joe pa didn't follow protocol since it was on campus he could have been fired for not following the right steps. He did the right thing whether you agree or not

Huh? Assuming JoePa tells Sandusky to take a hike, not set foot on campus again after learning about his showering with boys - you're claiming he could be fired for that? JoePa could fire a guy for not having his hair cut properly and he would be untouched.

JoePa had a great career as a coach, but the Sandusky issue was evidence of a colossal lack of judgment by many people at PSU, including JoePa. This wasn't a case of "no harm, no foul" it was a lack of action that resulted in real harm.

A situation like that isn't Joe pa's call it's his superiors. Sandusky wasn't on the coaching staff at the time of this happening. The cover up is with his superiors

In the end, he did the 'bare minimum'. When you stand in judgement (not just in the biblical sense), do you really want to say you did the bare minimum?

The cover up involved everyone that knew about it. If you're a leader you have to live up to that image. Perhaps JoePa was too old at the time to fully realize what was happening, but again this isn't an issue of nothing hurt, nothing to see here. There was real harm.

Kids continued to be molested due to the inaction. It took a local high school to stop it. The people involved at said HS didn't go to the Superintendent, or the county Board of Education, they went straight to the cops and made sure something was done about it. That's how Sandusky was arrested.

When is the time? Next week? Next year? I'm not pissing on JoePa's grave, he did a lot of good work in his life. But those kids were still molested, if nothing else people should learn how to act in that situation as a result of the PSU leaders' failures.
